OK. This is really bizzare. An update.

I linked up my main domain to my blog (which is a subdomain), didn't change anything, and applied for adsense. Apparently I went through the first stage of screening! I am shocked because people have been telling me my main domain is likely going to be rejected because I don't have enough text content and it is not a site where they see profitable with ads! Now I will put a dummy ad to it... maybe I don't need to switch servers afterall! Fingers crossed...

@mrbee: I have no idea. They just say I have to have intention putting ads on the main domain, and they can not accept subsite or a directory. Some people on the adsense blog say my main domain doesn't have enough text content so I may get rejected anyway. Contemplating moving the whole thing to another domain, but moving a blog is a very scary thing to do (with database and all)....

I just don't understand... everyone is doing it (putting ads on subsites only) but the question is how did they do it. We'll see.

@mrbee: Finally the expert replies!!!! Thanksx1000000!!
You mean just apply with my main domain without changing anything and then see if they would approve me. If they approve me I'll have to keep the ad somewhere on the main site (not the homepage)? So they do come back and check if you have ads on your site, right?

You can leave your domain pointing at your main website, and apply... then when they accept you, just stick an adsense ad on one random and low-traffic page on http://www.eneri.net. That should do the trick!

@Raindrop: Thanks ! I posted on a google adsense forum, and someone responded saying there are two types of ads: adsense, and adsense alternative. So basically they said, if I was good, I might as well stick with adsense because it is the most effective. Sigh. So I am contemplating just applying and see how it goes. If I got rejected, I'll move to another domain... which sucks, but not the end of the world...

@Mrs.Someone: Thank you :)

@scg00387: Thank you! With the subsite thing, that's what I thought ! I always thought there is no issue with it until I apply for an account, then they won't even let me type my subsite URL in. My friend said they probably get an account with another blog (on a primary domain), and then put ads on other sites however they want.

Yes please message me on my wall... I would love to hear more advices.

@irene: I know of one site off the top of my head that does it like you & has adsense. I would just apply! http://blog.peekaboopatternshop.com/

Also, I'm going to write on your wall. I started a Facebook group for sewing/crafty bloggers (right now it's mostly sewing bloggers) and in the group I have a file with a bunch of affiliate/revenue generating ideas that fit with DIY.

@Raindrop: Thanks for replying! You are right... I haven't explored other options yet, but a friend of mine said he tried other alternatives, but so far adsense generates the most revenue for him, and other ads services may not even approve you when you do not already have a lot of traffic. So I just took his word for it.

After sulking for the afternoon, I am going to link up my primary domain to my blog and submit to adsense (and probably get rejected as well), then I will pursue the other options. Thanks for the advice!

Can you do other ad like things? I don't think Adsense is the only game in town is what I mean. :) One of my co-worker's husband does best buy (directly) and Amazon ads. Not sure how they work... just a thought.

Sorry this is totally off topic of any parenting related, but this is what I've been working on and has been planning on happening, but now there is a huge road block. I know there are a lot of blog experts here (Mr and Mrs. Bee, wheres_c...etc.) so please give me some advice, if just hear me out and offer some comforting words... :crying:

I've been working on my blog since the beginning of the year. It is a blog about design and DIY projects (for the little ones mostly), and I am providing some free printables to designs (eg. thank you cards, birthday invites...etc.). In order to provide free printables, I have always planned to put google adsense ads.

So finally it is somewhere close to be done (or I am comfortable to take out the privacy protection and let people see it). Then I realize it may not be eligible for an adsense account at all.

The story is, I have my primary domain and it has been my business website for many many years. I started my blog under a subdomain (blog.eneri.net) and wanted to put ads there, but NOT on my primary domain. I went to adsense, and they only allow primary domains to apply for adsense, and I have to have intentions to put ads on the primary domain, which is not what I wanted!

My friend has suggested me to temporarily point my primary domain to my blog just to get approval, but I don't think that's how it works.

I am just really bummed. That has been my big plan and I worked so hard on it and turns out this may all be for nothing.

Thanks for hearing me out... any advices or work arounds do you think there is for me? Have you been able to apply for adsense in a similar situation as I am? Had I knew, I would have started my blog with blogger.com.

I am just very, very bummed.
