@grizz: That would be a most definitely! I advise avoiding the lithotomy position at all cost even without things that could possibly complicate delivery... it causes the pelvic opening to actually close and is an illegal "forced" position in a number of countries b/c of the complications it can cause.

I delivered on my side.

@runsyellowlites: I just noticed in the article you sent me that I should avoid giving birth on my back at all costs. This might be the push I need to convince my DH to let me switch to the birthing center rather than our local hospital.

I wish I had known about the chiropractor. I'll have to remember this for #2!

@runsyellowlites: @littlebittyhouse: Thank you!

@runsyellowlites: I'm going to hang on to the very end before I make a decision! I'm scheduled to see both my physio and chiro a combination of four times this week and luckily they're on the same page as far as my treatment goes. I'm so disappointed because I was doing SO well last week, and managed to pop out again last night. I'm determined to get a handle on it as best as I can!

I had PGP, which is the same thing. Mine was due to injury though as I slipped almost to a full split at 5 months & thanks to elastin my pelvis ended up out of place. I saw a chiropractor as needed through the rest of my pregnancy (got adjusted the day before labor started even) and I delivered naturally just fine.

here's a nice FAQ concerning PGP/SPD and pregnancy/birth
http://www.pelvicinstability.org.uk/faq.asp?todo=done&

I think I would wait and see how you respond to adjustments to decide for/against a vaginal birth.

I had it. Kind of the pits really. I really wish I had bought a support belt to be honest! Not sitting for too long helped. It sounds awful but you learn to just 'deal' with it. Mine started at about 18 weeks. I had a vaginal birth with a vacumn assist because he was ROP at birth + mama had a fever of 102. I'll be honest and say that the vac assist did not help the SPD. It took me about 2mo PP to be back to normal. I do know others who were fine after delivery though! More than happy to answer any other questions :)

I've been seeing a physical therapist for about a week now for excruciating pelvic/hip pain. I can literally feel my joints slipping in and out.

My PT did a correction last week (correction is a really nice way to say she did a WWE wrestling move on me to pop my pelvis and hips back into place :) ) and I was doing ok...Then last night I was just sitting on the floor, reached for something, and popped my pelvis back out.

I called their office this morning, and they're officially calling it symphysis pubis dysfunction. I was really hoping for a natural birth, but Dr. Google told me all about C-sections etc due to SPD complications. Has anyone else had experience with this? What helped you? I'm so scared!
