Worrying about what they'd look like is one reason I didn't get one. that, and the fact that I thought I'd want one on my lower back, but had heard they won;t give you an epidural if they have to go through the tattoo. Someday though!

@MsMini: I gain weight really odd too! I didn't want to scare you, but just letting you know! I like to "muffin top" when I gain, so that could be why I stretched so bad in the back!

@Rosie Girl: Ack! That is not good news. So far I am 17 weeks 4 days, and I am still down 4 pounds from pre-pregnancy, so hopefully I don't balloon out in the rest of the pregnancy!

@MsMini: My lower back, middle, is the part that got the worst stretch marks (other then boobs and legs!)! Its like I stretch from back there forward! I really hope that you don't do that. I should also add, I gained a lot of weight with DS! :o

I have two tattoos, but put them in places that wouldn't be affected by my growing belly/body.

I have one just inside and above my left hip bone, I think it will start to stretch soon, but I am not worried about what it looks like afterwards. Worst case scenario, I will either get it removed or covered up once I am done having kids. My lower back tattoos I am not concerned about either, they are just in the middle, and I think unlikely to stretch.

I have one just inside my hip bone and during pregnancy #1 it got a little bigger and moved further from my belly button. But it went back to normal post-baby. I wish I had measured it!

I was going to start a thread similar to this! I have one down my side, that I am worried about if my boobs get really huge (it stretching from the side forward). I also have one that runs along my hip bone down my crotch. My Dr keeps telling me that it is in a great place and shouldn't stretch at all. I hope she is right!

My other tattoos aren't anywhere that should be affected (shoulder, ankle, foot). It will be interesting to see though!

Most of the time it's not ruined. I don't have one anywhere on my mid section, but my older sister has a large piece up her side and across her stomach that she got done when she was 18. She's 39 now and it still looks great even through 2 pregnancies.

I have a large tattoo along my side of an orchid plant that so far (at almost 22 weeks) has changed for sure, but still looks fine. I was lucky enough to have an INCREDIBLY talented tattoo artist do it though, and he took the time to hand draw the bulk of the art on my body in a manner that would prevent serious damage once I did get pregnant. (Here's a picture - the left side is at 5 weeks the right at 20 http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-H3Phh14Jack/TtUk2MTfwRI/AAAAAAAAAck/SZxegdkNrrs/s1600/belly_growth_halfway.png )

After we're done having kids I plan on going back to Pittsburgh to have it touched up, but I'm curious to see what it will end up looking like when I'm about to burst and after the baby is born/after I lose my baby weight!

Do you have any tattoos that have been affected by your growing baby belly?
