We were forced to make our decision quicker than anticipated as our baby boy arrived 10 days early. His name is Connor Felix (after my great grandfather) and I feel like it really fits him

I am in the exact same boat! My DD is named Maya after Maya Angelou. I heard her speak my freshman year of college, she’s one of my favorite authors, and was just a really remarkable woman who did great in the world. We love her name so much. Pregnant with a boy and there’s no aha moment. There’s no meaningful name to us out there so far. And it’s like if we name after a family member it would be a traditional name, which isn’t our style at all. And it would be picking a random family member. It sucks. We have a ways to go but I know we will be settling.

Also, did you have a second favorite name when naming your first son? Maybe start from there?

@Bluemasonjar: a lone vote for Frederick here :) I absolutely love that name and I think it's so under-used and awesome. I just had #2, a girl, but if she'd been a boy that 1000% would have been the name. it does feel really stylistically different to me than your son's name and all the names pp's are floating, but I like that it isn't so matchy-matchy with Declan. congratulations in advance!

@Bluemasonjar: hi! I have a 5yo named Callan as well. Just wanted to add that no one calls him Cal! There was only one preschool teacher that has ever called him Cal... but everyone else calls him Callan bc that’s what we call him and now that’s how he introduces himself. I’m not against Cal, and thought that might be a nickname for him, but he’s just never looked like a Cal to me, so he’s always gone by his full name! :)

@Ajsmommy: Connor is the name DH and I both like the best right now! I think I am just wavering because nothing can compare to DS #1's name in my mind (I need to get over that). We have also thought about Finn but I like Flynn as a possible alternate.

@jennlin821: @SupernovaJ: @Kaohinani: So many good options. Thank you! I like Quinn and Ronan a lot.

@Mommy Finger: We definitely have similar styles. I suggested Nolan but my husband wasn't a fan. I came across Callan recently and like it but we also have a friend with a son that goes by Cal (named Calvin). Not sure how much it matters but I was thinking it might be a natural nickname. Have you heard that with your son?

I just had baby boy #2 two months ago and was in the same situation. DS1 is Benjamin, a name I’ve always loved, with a meaningful family middle name. It made it hard to think of another boy name I loved as much, but we settled on Harrison James. Neither name has much significance, other than DH always liked James and wanted it at least to be a middle name. I’ll admit before he was born I was still wavering on the name (I think because I had always loved Benjamin so much it was hard imagine another name living up to it) but now that he’s here I absolutely love his name and couldn’t picture it being anything else. I like James as a middle because it seems to go well with everything. Other first names we considered were Carter, Liam, Owen, and William.

Help! I am 2 weeks away from my scheduled C-section date. We are Team Green :teamgreen: for the second time and struggling to find a name we both love for a little boy.

I have loved the name Declan since high school and we used it for DS #1 along with a meaningful family surname as his middle name. I just don't know how to compete with that, it is so perfect in my mind! We still like Reagan for a girl's name and would pair it with Mae for a middle name after DH's grandmother.

I tend to like Irish/Gaelic type names but not at all a requirement. Our last name starts with an F and ends in "man."

I really want at least part of the name to have significance. Some family names: Felix, Wilson (cousin used it for a first name but an option for middle), James, Leo and Fredrick.
