Ezra did this too and I hated the sound of it! It lasted a bit longer. Probably around 2 full weeks of him doing it. He started to do it less and less and now he just turned 9mo and I haven't heard it at all this week so hopefully we are over that trick.

Dd did this when her teeth came in too and it was miserable. Thankfully it only lasted a couple of days, definitely not long than a week.

DS just cut his 2 front top teeth and now is constantly grinding the top and bottom teeth all day. He doesn't do it while asleep. I read that it's common but the sound of it is slowly killing me. We've just given him his binky when he does it, but he normally only uses it for sleep so I don't really want it in his mouth all day. Anyone else experience this? How long did it last? Any tips or advice welcome?

LO did a lot of tooth grinding right when she got her top teeth in (the bottom were already in). She got over it in like a week or two and rarely did it. She is currently sort of in a biting phase but I don't think she means to do it. She gnaws on everything inanimate but hasn't tried to bite bare skin on DH or I. The problem is that sometimes if there is a wrinkle in my clothing or something, she tries to bite my clothes but actually gets my skin underneath too. I assume it is a phase that will pass too. We don't really do anything about it beyond exclaiming "Ouch!! it hurts mommy when you bite!" but I don't know that she understands me (she's 12 mo).

DS2 grinds his teeth too. Most horrible sound ever! His top teeth just came out and he stopped for now. The dental hygienist told me it's totally normal. Kids will also do it too when their adult teeth come in.

I can't really speak to the biting (DD1 was not a biter and DD2 went through a few days of nipping me when she was mad, but we seem to have squelched it for now)...but the grinding I just ignored and both girls got tired of it. They really liked to snap their front teeth against each other when they just had four, but quit once more came in and they couldn't gnash them at so many fun angles.

Please tell me my child isn't terribly mean. He is biting up a storm - my husband's and my shoulders/shirts/anything whenever he can (plus his own hands/fingers) and he is grinding his teeth (such a terrible noise!) It seems that these are all phases of teething - I can see he is getting his second sets of both bottom and top teeth, so it must be painful at times - but I'm terrified I'm raising 'that kid' that bites, grinds and is generally a social nuisance (half kidding here.)

Thoughts?
