My nephew HATES hair ponytails. He's just over 2, and his mom and sister both have long hair, so there are tony of ponytails laying all over the house. Well he refuses to touch them or go near them. No idea why! It's actually quite hilarious!

My LOs don't seem to have an issue with texture, but my next door neighbors daughter hated anything sticky, like stickers, bandaids etc. I know she has grown out of it.

C hates touching sand... we had her walk on it twice over the summer and she started bawling! She hates both cold, wet sand and dry sand (it wasn't hot at all).

My son didn't like play dough or finger paints the first times I introduced them, but now he likes them. He is big into mud and dirt now, lol.

My LO doesn't like things for the first time (sand in particular) but after she's exposed a couple times she's fine. We went to the beach this summer and by the 3rd day she was trying to crawl directly into the ocean!!!

It sounds like a sensory thing. My son used to HATE walking on grass and sand. He would scream if I tried to make him stand in the sandbox without his shoes on. I just slowly exposed him to more sensory type of experiences and he's totally ok with it now. He's actually the opposite now He wants to take off his shoes all the time! :) His preschool encourages children to walk barefoot so it definitely helped him seeing other kids do it.

DD doesn't like petting dogs. I don't know if it's their texture, or just that they're scary though... haha

Back in the spring when he was outside for the first time, he hated the grass. Would touch it and then shudder! He's used to it now though.

DS used to not like touching soft things such as stuffed animals or blankets/clothing. It didn't make him upset or anything, but he would be done with just one touch, and usually with just one finger before he would quickly pull away. I notice it for things like leaves, and grass and potentially prickly/tickly things. He's fine with wood chips and rocks and hard things! LOL

Any experience with this or other textures? Did your LO grow out of this? I also understand that DS is more of the cautious type, so maybe that's why.
