So toddler sizing is pretty much by age then. I mistakenly put LO in 24 pants yesterday. He doesn't like when I turn on the light to get him ready, so I often gather his outfit in the dark. The 24 month pants were really long on him, so he's not at that height yet. LO typically wears Old Navy, Carter's, and sleeps in Carter's fleece sleepers right now. The Children's Place sleepers fit him better than the Gap/Carter's ones. The 18 month ones he wore during Christmas were big, but should fit him through spring hopefully.

All of the responses are super helpful. I was thinking about the toddler clothing and how it works the past couple of days being totally confused about it.

Their growth slows WAY down after 2! My LO is long and lean and a lot of 18-24 month pants never even fit him (for Gap and Gymboree he grew out in length before the waist ever fit). I always buy the spot on size for pants (typically from Old Navy or H&M For my skinny LO) and the next size up for shirts to extend the time he can wear them. For hand me downs, I always go through the next size up too because of shrinkage (with shirts and PJs especially!!).

The sizes have matched up pretty well with the years for us.... 2T for 2-3, 3T for 3 and he's starting to wear SOME 4T at 3 and a few months, but it's big on him.

A is 17 months and in 18 months and 2t for some items. I have no idea how that works though I'm assuming growing slows down? Hopefully!

My understanding is that 2T is like 2-3 years, thats how UK sizing works. It goes 18-24 months to 2-3 years.

2T is longer and thinner than 24m. My DD is in a mix of 24m and 2T currently. She'll be 2 in April.

LO is 17 months old. He's in 18 month clothes right now. He'll fit 24 month clothing in the spring, probably through the summer. I just bought some 2T sleepers for next summer/fall since his 18-24 month ones should fit him through the summer. When he gets to 2T, does he stay in that size for a whole year. How does sizing work once you're out of the "month" clothes? I'm just trying to prepare for the upcoming seasons. We have some hand me down 2T's coming our way too.
