First stair. We chose this bc it's in sight of most rooms of the house and many of the houses we spend time at have one!

By the window in our bedroom. It's completely boring there and we can see it from the living room.

@lovehoneybee: totally. When E and B have reached a certain point in a tantrum, sometimes it's more beneficial to cool down and regather in their room. I do it too it :silly:

@HLK208: My brothers-in-law both used the step, and it seemed to work well so we adopted it as well. I think it's more effective then putting him in his room (although when he hits a particular tantrum level we will sometimes put him in his room alone to chill out, even though we know he'll end up playing).

Another vote for the stairs. If we're upstairs (rare) it's a chair we have.

My timeout spot is in the kitchen, just out of view of the kids playroom. I sit down and eat a piece of chocolate before returning to the chaos. ;)

I'm not thrilled with it but I've been putting him on the doormat in front of a back door we never use. It's near the bathroom and the pantry though so I feel like it's not going to be boring enough!

@Tanjowen: oh I wasn't clear- she would run from a time out spot where she wasn't contained- like if I put her on a chair she would keep climbing off and it would be a game to her. The crib I put her in and walk away for a minute and she can't run after me. But again in really not sure I'm doing it right. We don't have stairs or that would be good.

@lovehoneybee: @Alba4: Ohhh, the stairs are a good idea! I stood him in a corner by the front door tonight and that might work, but only time will tell...

@Foodnerd81: Interesting! So far (watch him do it tomorrow, ha) he doesn't run from me, but it might happen. I was thinking about breaking out the playpen for downstairs if he starts bolting on me!

@brownepiano: We don't keep toys in his room, but a ton of books, and he would be thrilled to be in there looking at the pictures.

Ugh we use the crib because we have nowhere else really, and I didn't want to fight with her running away from wherever I put her. But I always worry it will make her hate the crib. So far it seems ok.

We have hit the terrible 2's full force the past month and starting to do timeouts. I took a small stool and put it in the corner, but he falls off it. On purpose. Grrr.

I don't want to use places he associates with comfort, such as bed and booster seat. I'm interested to hear and get ideas from where your spot is for your LO!
