We bought a video monitor last month so we could see what was going on in there. It gives me the piece of mind that at least he is fine, just ticked.

@Chillybear: sleep lady didn't work for us this time, it makes lo more upset when he can see or hear us. You are right, it's best to sort it out when you're back at home. Whatever you decide, be consistent! Good luck!

@Chillybear: My LOs sleep got worse with the standing up, too. We just recently started letting her cry when she wakes up, because when she wakes up and cries she typically cries 10 min or less, but if we go in and pick her up and put her down, then she'll cry over and over and the whole process ends up taking much longer.

If she cries longer than 10 min, we go in and pat her.

It's definitely a brutal stage! I hope it passes quickly for you---we are still a work in progress over here.

@mrsvdv: as I was reading this I was thinking are you hanging around peeking in my windows? Almost as soon as I get to the crib rail she starts to wake up. . I was looking into sleep lady shuffle and not sure if at this age it would even work for us. We leave for the beach on Friday so I think what ever we decide to try will have to be when we get back

I know you said you're not comfortable with CIO, and neither was I, but it ended up being the only thing that worked for us during this stage. LO would wake up crying and we'd find him standing in his crib, I would try and shush him to sleep (we had used the sleep lady shuffle around 4-5 months, so I tried that again) but it just wasn't working. As soon as I left the room, he'd start again and we had to go through the whole thing all over. It got so bad that he would start crying as soon as he noticed me lowering him over his crib to put him down. Then one night, after waking up 4+ times, my husband told me I either had to shut the door and let him cry, or he'd move baby and crib into the kitchen where we wouldn't be able to hear him... I was exhausted, so I closed the door to the nursery, climbed back into bed and waited for DS to stop crying (we share a wall so I can hear him pretty well). It lasted 15 minutes, not half as long as I had feared... And he's sleeping much much better since! So this novel is only to say that you could always try letting her cry for a little bit, she might surprise you just like my LO did!

ETA: DH is not a harsh person, so please don't think he'd put baby in the kitchen for real! See it as a 4 am sleep deprived figure of speech!

Oh my gosh... following because my LO has been doing the same since she learned how to stand up in the crib.

We did pick up, calm down, put down for over five hours 7:30-1:30am the other night, and then she only stayed asleep from 1:30am-3:30 and the was up until 6am, only sleeping till she was up for the day at 7am. Refusing to nap in the same way too.

@Chillybear: fair enough, I was surprised how well I did sleep with my LO! Have you thought about some sort of floor bed so you could lie down with your LO then sneak away?

Here's Vol. 1 http://boards.hellobee.com/topic/troubleshooting-baby-sleep#post-1578313

At 7 months (end of april) we did some gentle sleep training and we got to the point where we could put her down drowsy, we also ditched the swaddle and crib nest, introduced a lovie, and worked on naps. She still woke up at 1 and 5 to eat and would go back to sleep.

Since then she got 2 bottom teeth and is working on her top teeth. Learned how to roll well, started crawling, pulling up and how to go from laying down to sitting to standing in her crib.

Needless to say she is no longer sleeping well. We're back to nursing and rocking to sleep. She's still waking up 2-3 times a night. I find her sitting in the crib mostly asleep or standing crying. Sometimes she just nibbles at 1am (ish) other times she'll go back to sleep without a fuss or feeding. so i think we can safely drop this feeding.

My sleep training methods that worked the first time arent working because now she'll just stand and cry. She won't settle herself and god forbid my husband try to help out and get up with her, she screams blood murder. We dont have a video monitor so i really dont feel comfortable with CIO for extended times. And in a battle of wills i'm pretty sure she would win.

Help? Please i'm getting desperate....
The other night she went to bed at 8:30 and was up from 10:40pm-1:40pm. I wanted to die at work the next day.
