@maddyz: are you traveling to see family or traveling for fun/work?

Before my LO could move much, I flew solo with her to my Mom's for a few weeks and she slept on a nap mat my mom had, just on the floor next to my bed.

Once she got older and I had to worry about her waking up and crawling around in the night, I bought the Lotus crib, which we still use now when we travel (LO is 21 months). It's small enough to carry on to a plane and super easy to set up.

since your babe will be so young, what about a travel bassinet since you already have a travel crib? i wouldn't want to buy something i already had!

Does Lo have his own seat, and do you have to pay for checked bags? If you are paying to check a bag it very well may be cheaper to just buy a new basic pnp and have it delivered to your destination. But that could be tricky if you are moving around a lot or staying in a rental where you can't have something delivered ahead of time.

Are you going to be staying in a hotel or with friends/relatives? I know a lot of hotels will provide a crib, but there's kind of an ick factor there. If you're going to be around friends or family, can you borrow one?

I have a few upcoming solo flights/travel with my DS who will be 2-4 months old. We have a nuna crib, but it's huge and heavy and not good to check on a flight. He is too big or too young for most the smaller options out there.

Is there something easy to bring?

Buying a cheep pack n play is less then the oversize bag charges by a lot.

I would co sleep, but at least one of these trips I'll be sleeping in a very squishy twin bed.

I just came across this article via Facebook, it seems the sides of this particular trvel crib are not breathable, and may pose a risk in hot weather...
A tragedy for one family anyway.

We registered for the travel lite. It just seemed the most practical for us. Being able to wheel it through the doorway is awesome, since we have a one story home. I can just wheel it from our bedroom into the office or kitchen if I need to put him down. We also spend quite a bit of time at our family lake house and beach condo, so it doubles as a light, easy to maneuver pack n play. Hopefully it'll work perfectly. We'll see in a couple of months.

We also did a diaper change when DS woke to eat during the night. I had a cradle my dad made for DS next to my bed. I'd just get up and take DS to the living room. We had a make shift changing station in there, and I'd sit in the recliner while nursing him. I didn't really get the hang of nursing in bed throughout the night since DS didn't sleep in bed with us. In the morning hours (5am to 9am) I'd have DS in bed with me and I could nurse while dozing sometimes, but usually I'd have to get up.

If you decide not to get the Arms Reach co sleeper, my suggestion is to get a basic pack n play. I did like the bassinet feature, since it was much easier to transfer DS while he was sleeping without having to bend all the way over. The Travel Lite crib is smaller that DS wouldn't be able to sleep comfortably in it past 10ish months. (Although he's a big boy, in 18-24 month clothes). I wanted it for traveling, since he'd be sleeping in it until he was into regular bed. The full size pack n plays won't fit through most doorways, but it hasn't been an issue for us. I got this one with a 20% off coupon and it is great.

We ended up with a travel crib like this: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4008532&searchURL=false

It works just fine for breastfeeding and we have it for traveling too. Like Artbee, we change his diaper when he gets fed in the middle of the night, so we have to get up anyway.

My SIL has the cosleepers, they are very big and clunky (we put them together for her, it would be a huge pain to move or fold up for travel.

I am happy to have the travel crib since it is waay cheaper and I can have it folded up in less than 5 minutes and it is small enough not to take over our bedroom since our house is on the smaller side.

We always changed LO's diaper when we got up to feed her in the middle of the night. So if you're planning to do that you'll have to actually get up either way.

If you want to nurse in bed, then I would definitely recommend the Arms reach co sleeper. The drop side will make it much easier.

The travel lite crib is a lot smaller than the co sleeper. It's meant to be a more portable pack n play so it is not as wide or long. You will have to get up to lift your LO out at night.

Since I am planning on breastfeeding, I want to make sure that the LO is able to sleep in our room for a little while (potentially the first few months).

I know that the cosleeper has the drop down side which would potentially keep her much closer to me at night. What I don't know is if the travel crib, since it's such a similar design just without the drop down side will be enough for me to be able to just grab and feed her in the middle of the night and then put her back to sleep.

Does anyone have any experience with either that they would be willing to share? Here are the links for each of them.
