Thanks ladies!

@bees_knees: Yeah, I’ve been testing daily, partly because the recommendation with my history is to call the doctor immediately and start blood work, but I’d like to delay that because we have family visiting for the holiday and don’t want to have to explain away after hours doctor calls. Here is my progression from 4/10-4/12:

@Mamaof2: Thanks, I'm going to talk more to the doctor before the appointment tomorrow. She talked specifically about how they'd send saline and air bubbles through the tubes, and there are a few articles on pubmed evaluating saline ultrasonography as a method of determining tubal patency that show similar results to HSG, so I'm less worried about whether it will show the tubes and more about what the experience would be like.

Its been over 10 years for me but I had both procedures done - they did the SHG first and found fibroids - during my fibroid surgery they did the HSG and saw that my tubes were clear.

I would get clarification - if they think there is a problem with your tubes you definitely need the dye test

I’ve just started working with an RE after three losses this year (1 mc and 2 ectopic) and I’m scheduled for an saline sonohysterogram on Thursday to look at my tubes, but everything I can find online about SHG is talking about the uterus only, and HSG (similar but different test) to looks at the tubes. Has anyone on here had an SHG for tubal patency? I trust that my dr knows what she’s doing, but I just don’t know what to expect. Everything says that SHG is easier than HSG, but I’m wondering if that’s because they aren’t sending anything through the tubes. Just looking for experiences really.

@Stardust17: I’m so sorry about your loss. My IF lingo is a little rusty but you could ask your OBGYN to do basic hormone testing (blood draws) just to see where you stand. That would be FSH, AMH and progesterone, and estrogen. They test for egg reserve and quality and a few other things. Some have to be done on certain days of your cycle so they can’t test them same day. I would say it’s worth asking about and they are probably covered under your basic insurance, but it’s worth asking ahead if that’s a concern. (A lot of IF diagnostics aren’t covered but testing hormone levels is usually coded otherwise.) Some docs want you to be TTC-ing for awhile before they test hormones and others — especially if your AMA — will give you what you want, so just insist if you get pushback. It’s no harm having the information.

You could possibly ask about scarring from the D&C and having your daughter. I had 4 miscarriages...2 were D&Cs and I had a C-section in between. When we were trying for baby #2, my RE did a procedure that flushed through my uterus and took a quick look up there to see if there was anything unusual. She found that two of my uterine walls had fused together from scar tissue from all of the trauma my uterus went through. She cleared all that out through surgery, and I got pregnant with a natural, timed cycle with DS2.

That's a long shot, but it could help to understand if there's a procedure they could do to view your uterine lining.

Long story, short...I MC at 8 weeks late December 2017 and had first AF on 2/20 lasting 9 days. It was very light and most days it was just dark brown spotting.
Prior to getting pregnant (which we used OPK and got pregnant right away), I started with some irregular periods in July 2017. Until then, I’d been very regular and it had been exactly a yr since giving birth when they became irregular.

I turned 36 last month and I want to TTC sooner rather than later. I’m going in to see my OBGYN for a 2nd post op (I had D&C) because I want to move forward. I do not have any diagnosed fertility issues but it did take me 11 yrs to get pregnant with my daughter.

I know I’m going to ask about my cycles and possibly Provera and we are interested in Femara.

But can anyone tell me any other testing options I could ask about to check for underlying issues since I’m over the suggested maternal age? Like egg reserve/quality?

Today is CD16 (I’m somewhat guessing b/c period was weird and I didn’t count any post op bleeding which was also very minimal and a light flow) and still getting negative ovulation sign on a digital kit. I started on CD9. With my MC, I ovulated on CD12.

Sorry this is all over the place. I’m overwhelmed and frustrated. I’m beginning to feel defeated and hopeless with getting my rainbow baby.

TIA!

@ChiCalGoBee: anecdotally, I think mine have tended to be higher if I've had them tested later in the day. I'm not sure if it's beyond the normal fluctuations or not, but was shocked when I got a higher number a week I was expecting a low one...and the only difference was going in the afternoon vs. the morning.

@MaryM: Thanks for sharing! So interesting! My friend, a pharmacist, mentioned that apparently your progesterone levels can change throughout the day? I had no idea.

My second beta was 483, so a 97% doubling. Still waiting to hear from the doctor for next steps, but hoping it's okay.

@ChiCalGoBee: This shows the protocol I'm following https://www.naprotechnology.com/progesterone.htm

The middle line is "normal." That's 20 around 4 weeks. But they'll still suggest supplementing just in case it falls instead of rises like it should (mine dropped from 40 something at O+7 to 24 by 10 weeks). They retest every two weeks to adjust the protocol if needed.

I've been below "normal" since week 8, but have been on shots. I'm hugging the "low" line, but the baby's still moving around and hopefully will stay that way!

@LindsayInNY: Great site! I'll enter my info in, and add the next one tomorrow hopefully.
@hilsy85: Thank you so much!!
@tequiero21: Good to know I seem to be in range. Thanks!
@SweetiePie: Thanks so much for that info. A lot of what I'm seeing online is in the IVF community and I didn't realize there was a difference. My doc read the labs and sent them on so I'd think if he was concerned he'd have called.
@MaryM: Well I'm way below 40....but I guess Monday when we talk about the second beta I'll make sure to ask about the level. Hope your current pregnancy is going well-I am so excited for you.

My 13dpo beta was 57 and my 15dpo beta was 129. Doubling (really a 60% increase) in 48 hrs is important. I was on progesterone suppositories but they always wanted my number above 15. I'm now snuggling my baby girl.
