I'm sure it depends. My DS's bite is not severe, it's more a slight underbite that the dentist feels can be corrected in this way. He said it's a rare case he would suggest it, but my DS fits the case. I'm certainly not advocating that we all let our kids keep pacis. Wouldn't the benefits of cutting it now outweigh that one "potential" reason, especially since it can be corrected later on? I don't really see how paci use could correct it enough? Hmmm. Plus I was concerned about orthodontics. </p> <p>Well fast forward to today, when the pediatric dentist examines DS and says to me, "does E use a paci?" To which I proudly replied,"nope we are all done." His reply, "well I'm going to tell you to give it back to him!" Apparently DS has an underbite that can potentially be corrected by further use of a paci, or else his jaw may grow funny and he will have to get braces later in life. </p> <p>Definitely wasn't expecting that one! DS just had his greatest wish come true :-). So take your toddlers to the dentist :-) </p>
