My LO cried when they gave her the shots and then she was fine until 4 hours later, when she screamed for 2 hours straight. I finally figured out that her legs were really sore from the shots. Even though the pediatrician said not to give her Tylenol unless she had a fever, I gave it to her and she was fine after that.

My DD got shots yesterday. She cried for a few seconds then was fine. Today she is suuuuper cranky! She will cry if she's not held. I think she was like this after her last set of shots too, but I don't really remember that well. I know they say that your LO can be fussy for a couple days after getting shots. How about yours?

Yes we vaccinated - we were going to spread them out but watching him go through the pain of every needle was too much to bear for me. Most his vaccines were combined so the # of shots would be less. Also, let's face it, I work and going to the doctor that often isn't convenient for me and the doc was fine with this.

absolutely. my sister-in-law is a pediatrician, and has such strong opinions on this. To hear her & how heart broken she is over when kids come in with issues because they weren't vaccinated... well, we are vaccinating. I showed her this pen & teller video once & she loved it - said it was spot on.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RfdZTZQvuCo
As others have said, I definitely think that the pros outweigh the cons.

We will, but possibly on a delayed schedule. If people don't vaccinate, many diseases that are eradicated in our country due to herd immunity could make a comeback, and I certainly don't want to risk my future child dying from one of them.

This weighs on me a lot, as my brother is on the Autism spectrum and I worry about the hype (though I know the research is very ... vague, let's say). Chickie missed rotavirus and is behind on her shots because our health department was dragging their heels getting her KidCare application processed, but she is on a normal-ish schedule because she is on the state health plan and it's required. I'm pretty much at peace with it but once we are in charge of our own vaccination destiny again I may considered a delayed schedule for future kids, especially for the boys. (this is just my gut talking for the boys-thing, I don't have proof that boys are more prone to autism)

We are vaccinating Bug. It may not be ideal and there could eventually be truth to the autism vaccine link but as of now, the research says it is safe and not a cause.

We vaccinated our girls, since they started daycare when they were 5 months old. After much debate with my husband, I finally gave in and had them vaccinated with the MMR. I think that shot was the most painful one. Both got a fever and one got a small reaction with mild measle symptoms, 10 days after the shot. We also watched out for any changes in their behavior after 2 weeks. Luckily, nothing major happened to them.

Our kids are on a delayed schedule. Instead of doing 6 shots at once, we do no more than 2 at a time and come back in between scheduled vaccinations. We also delayed the MMR until 2, but are on track for getting all of the vaccinations needed for school admissions.

I vaccinated my daughter, but she's on a slower vaccination schedule. So instead of say 6 shots at once, she'll get 3 shots. We delayed some of the rare diseases that don't really exist in the U.S. like Polio (there hasn't been a case since 1976). But she will definitely have all her vaccinations in place by the time I put her into daycare/preschool.

We're definitely vaccinating our children. Both my husband and I were vaccinated, and we just think in general, it's a good idea. Not only for your children, but for everyone's children. For some, the vaccinations don't work, and in those cases, they really rely on the herd-immunity of everyone else being vaccinated. I've also read they aren't 100% safe, but it's pretty darn close, and that's good enough for me!

We vaccinated our daughter. We both thought it was the best course of action for her, and she did really well with all her shots. She got pretty feverish after her 18 month shots for about 24 hours, but that's the extent of it. She's been very healthy and hasn't really been sick much throughout her life- maybe two 24 hour bugs in her nearly two years?

We vaccinated Charlie. He did not like it, especially the first one or two series of shots! Here he was after getting some shots:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9o_JidRTbNQ

Mr. Bee and I did a lot of research about vaccines before making the decision to get the shots. My understanding was that it's not 100% safe, but that if the majority of people don't do it, then that's far more dangerous. I'm half Japanese, and we're all about sucking it up for the greater good.

I believe that parents should have the right to choose whether or not to vaccinate. However, I would not send my kid to a daycare that didn't require vaccination. He's only been in daycare for two and 1/2 weeks, and he's already gotten sick! Since vaccinations don't provide full immunity, then I'd just be worried.

How about you: are you going to vaccinate your kidola(s)?
