LO definitely had a few voluminous loose poops after her vaccine and one of them was a blowout on my lap. She's had it twice. The first time we caught it from one of her baby friends (she was like 10 months old?). The 2nd time, I got it first and gave it to her (she was almost a year old). She was more vomity the first time and it was the poopsplosions the 2nd time. The first day was always the worst. </p> <p>We stopped feeding her any dairy while she was sick, per doctors orders, including formula. Thursday she napped incredibly well, and had maybe slightly heavier dirty diapers. I thought both we not too bad for side effects. Friday - she slept practically the whole day! Until almost 4 pm, she had only been awake for 2 hours total, with two 30 min. nursing session. I finally decided to wake her up (I know!) and within minutes she pooped some of the loudest sounds poops ever! So I go to change her and the diaper is FULL. After I already took away the diaper and wiped and I'm holding her legs ups, she let it RIP again and pooped all over the changing pad, like aiming at me! Holy smokes! Thank goodness I have a changing pad liner! Not even 1/2 hour later she has another MASSIVE poopy diaper! </p> <p>I figured that was the most of it. But later last night, I started getting terrible gas and stomach cramps and the runs for the first time since I don't know when! Then K had one of the ROUGHEST nights we've ever had. She was crying inconsolably until she could fart or burp and then would have a little bit of relief. Poor girl would even try to smile at us in between crying. This went on all night, but no more dirty diapers. She felt hot, but different thermometers all said she doesn't have a fever. </p> <p>Did anyone else experience a delayed reaction like this to the Rotovirus vaccine? Did YOU seem to catch any of the rotovirus yourself (or DH?) I'm quite positive I got it from her. And feel terrible if she felt how I felt and can't even tell us. I'm pretty sketched out by this vaccine and not sure how I feel about the 2 more follow-up ones if this is how each time would be. Poor girl looks exhausted today. I had chicken pox as a child and got singles two years ago. The rash itself was small and didn't crust or anything, just a few red bumps, but the nerve pain was excruciating. Because I didn't know what it was and took almost a week to get diagnosed, the anti virals didn't do much and I had chronic pain for over a year. Not fun as a first time nursing mama. The rash was right by my breast too so I was constantly worried about exposure to the baby! </p> <p>@irene: I know, we avoid taking him to the pediatrician as much as possible. Thankfully as they get older the visits are less frequent. But considering your lo just started at daycare it's probably just from exposure to all the new gems. Wagon Jr was sick for six months straight it seems! But this winter all he's had is a runny nose and one 12 hr fever. It really strengthened his immune system, I believe. Also, breastmilk only helps with immunity if it's fresh, because as you are exposed to the same gems that he's exposed to, your antibodies get passed to him. So milk that you froze in the past won't help much. </p> <p>Glad to hear he's doing better and hope he stays well!! It ended up he had a fever on and off for a whole week. I took him in on Friday to the doc anyway (he was sort of having a mild fever of 99-100.4 on and off between thursday and friday) just to make sure, but then he got 102.5 that friday night. His fever is sort of gone now (last night before bed it was 100.4, and this morning was 98). I hope it stays away for good.</p> <p>It is cold after cold for us too. My 10 months worth of breastmilk seems useless to build up his immunity system. We just started daycare 4 weeks ago so I can't really put my finger on it yet. I can't 100% blame the vaccine since he caught a cold/cough shortly after to from elsewhere too. My big pro for the vaccine is avoiding Shingles later in life. I know several people who have had it, and it sounds horrible!
