@LaineysMom: nope, he's not on anything. It doesn't bother him to spit up, it just wakes him up because it gets cold...

@Mrs. Blue: I haven't tried that but I might. I do feed him in a more upright position and that has helped some, but not totally. Which I read could be because of a food intolerance?

I would talk to your ped about it if you haven't already. Also, have you tried angling the mattress so LO isn't sleeping flat?

Is he on Zantac? I would talk to your ped... DD used to spit up a little bit in her sleep, but NOT wake up.. I was terrified that she would aspirate in her sleep.. Talk to your ped, but honestly, I think the fact that he wakes up is a very good thing..

Does this happen to anyone else? I am going crazy.

L was so tired tonight he didn't even fuss when I swaddled him, I was sure he'd sleep for a long while. Then, less than an hour later he spits up and wakes himself up. This usually happens a few times throughout the night and I have no idea now to stop it. I feel like it's stopping him from sleeping longer stretches.

I have a feeling he may have a dairy intolerance, so I've cut out dairy and I'm hoping this helps....

I need some sleep help. I can't keep seeing every hour of the night...

@hilsy85: Sometimes! The hard part is when one of them wants to lay there and "chat" while the other one goes back to sleep. My twins wake each other up, despite all the books that said that would never happen :-)

@Honeybee: I hope it's a phase! I think they are working toward stretching that last feeding. At least I hope so.

My son is an early riser and almost always has been. He is naturally this way and never sleeps more than 10-11 hours overnight. If he's gotten less than 10 hours of sleep overnight (excluding night wakings), I always put him back in his crib and usually he will fall back asleep, even if he coos/plays for a bit first - but usually only falls back to sleep for another 30-45 mins. This morning he slept 7:30-5:15 but then miraculously went back to sleep until 7. That's a rare occasion. He's 9.5 months old. He has gone w/o night wakings since around 6 months (unless he is sick) so I guess the early rising isn't so bad (except on weekends). Our days usually start between 5:30-6 a.m. I've tried morning CIO and it doesn't work if he's had 10 hours of sleep.

Not an infant, but DS has been waking up early the last week (between 6a-7a) and I'm over it haha. The worst part is when he wakes up he starts screaming and crying in my ear since we co-sleep. He just finally started to sleep better, almost STTN, and now this. I almost preferred when he didn't sleep well, but would get up at 9a instead (key word...almost).

Both of my kids are early risers. We have a rule that if they get up before 5 we try to put them back to sleep; if they're up at 5 or later we start the day. Hopefully this is just a phase for your LOs, but some kids are just natural early birds, I think.

If you put them back in their cribs, are they happy and content to lie there awake? Or do they cry? Sometimes LO is up at 5 to eat and then won't go back to sleep so I just leav ehim in his crib. He usually talks to himself for a bit and then eventually falls asleep for another half hour-hour.

Aww I'm sorry. I have an early riser. It has worked well now that we are in an early morning daycare routine. She just can't sleep more than 11-12 hours.

Does anyone else have a baby who wakes for the day before 6am? We typically put our 13-week-olds down for the night between 8-8:30pm. They have a dreamfeed at 10pm then wake at 4-5am to feed. When it's on the earlier side, we can usually get them back to sleep and they will go until 7am (heaven). BUT...when they sleep until closer to 5am, they are UP for the day at that point.
Should we try to put them back down when this happens? Or should we do as we did this morning: get them up, start the day, then try for their first nap around 6:30-7? (This, by the way, has been moderately successful so far today, but it's making for a rough start to the day for Mama!).
I'm confused. :-(
