@katsupgirl: There's a quick steam cycle I use in place of ironing, and there's also a longer sanitize cycle that I've used on pillows, stuffed animals, etc. I go through phases where I use it a lot, and phases where I don't use it at all, but overall I use it a lot more than I thought I would.

We have a Samsung HE set that we got during a Labor Day sale and I love it! Our washer is a front loader and haven't had any issues with ours! My mom who has a top loader likes mine better 😜

If I were buying a new washer and dryer I would definitely not buy a front loading washer. We have one that came with our house, and I HATE it. I wish it would die already so I can replace it with a top loader.

We are buying Speed Queens next week. SO EXCITED. Old school top loading with agitator, fast wash and dry. I've lived with front loading HE Kenmoores for 5 years and I hate them sooooooooo much.

As far as longevity, I've heard Speed Queens are the best. They're old school with the agitator and all, but are supposed to last forever.

We replaced our washer and dryer last summer, and ultimately chose an LG toploader because I didn't want an agitator. I love that I can fit large blankets and sleeping bags in there. We also made sure to get the steam function, and I've used it a lot. It's nice to have with little kids.

The repair guy who was at our house looking at our old set said he would never buy a front loader because he's constantly fixing those.

We have completely renovated our new house, but the one room we didn't touch was the laundry. Well, now that we live here, it has become clear that the dryer is old and terrible and needs to be replaced (takes 3+ times to dry a load). I am planning to DIY renovate the laundry room this winter (new shelving, counter, tile, etc.), but want to buy a new washer/dryer either in the Fall or January (apparently the best time to get a good deal).

I want side by side machines that can handle a lot. The plan is to have these last for the next 20+ years!

What do you reccommend?
