Now that he's older and going into a picky phase (14 months), I pretty much do the same thing; he's can have a fruit pouch if he doesn't eat his dinner, and then I try to give him extra milk before bed. It wasn't until about 2.5 that we started cutting out the extras for DD, if she refused to eat her dinner. She just turned three, and I don't think she has ever gone to bed truly hungry. If she didn't like what I offered, I'd offer something I know she'd like. If he rejects all three options I have planned out for him in one particular meal, should I offer him something I know he will love instead? Will this create a bad habit where he will learn that no matter what, I will end up giving him the thing he wants? ;P It's not like this for all meals, just some meals. I don't want food to become a battle, so I'm trying to appear chill. Should I just put the food away and say "all done" for that meal? I find myself eating some of the pieces he misses because it's good stuff, like wild-caught salmon, or grass-fed meats. Hahaha. How do you feel about all the wasted food? ;P
