@Espion: Thanks! I'm hoping it doesn't turn into croup, so this makes me feel a bit better.

@Pepper: Yes, it totally did. It (I won't lie) freaked me out a little, because he sounded really bad. Like he lost his voice and was straining to vocalize. But it went away within a few days. It took the better part of a couple weeks for him to give us a full on belly cry, though.

@Espion: I know this is old, but did E's hoarse cry and cough go away quickly? C has the exact same thing... no fever, no lethargy, but a cough and a hoarse voice and nasal congestion.

@Smurfette: I have an appointment on Thursday, but I'm calling the nurse's line anyway. I was (feebly) hoping someone would say "my LO went hoarse all the time!" Thank goodness he's otherwise his usual kicky self.

@Espion: I know! It breaks your heart. R would cough so much it would wake her up. I would probably call your pediatrician and see what they say since LO is so young still. They will probably want to see him to make sure it isn't besides a cold/cough.

@swedishfish: thank you!!

@Smurfette: thank you for the reply. I can't stand that he's so sick when he's so little - especially the way he sounds! :/

Yeah R had a bad cough and cold for like a month. We just had to let it ride out. The doctor said there wasn't anything to do. I did nurse more so it would coat her throat. Hope LO feels better soon!!

E has recently developed some congestion, and we have been treating with saline spray and a humidifier. Occasionally, he will cough, a sharp staccato sound. We saw a lactation consultsnt who is also a PNP yesterday, and she wasn't concerned about his upper respiratory "junkiness".

But today, he seems hoarse and as a result, his cry seems weaker. I would take him straight to the ER if he wasn't eating as well or if he seemed lethargic. But the weak, hoarse cry is unsettling. Anyone have a LO with this before?
