My sister is in northern Houston (near Kingwood) and she sent me pictures, I'm blown away. There isn't any body of water near her. It's just poor drainage and massive amounts of rain.

Is the airport closed today?

We can't even leave our house. The road is super flooded. I'm guessing we might be trapped here all week which makes me a little stir crazy and nervous already. Rain doesn't usually scare me but I'm feeling a little upset about this!

I'm in North Texas, so we aren't as bad off up here. But I was woken by the storm at about 3:15 and then I heard *drip* *drip*, got the flashlight out and we have a darn leak. The rain was coming down through the face of the double sided fireplace in our bedroom/bath.

Stay dry!

I was looking at gap/ON deals but I didn't feel they were all that great. I would also like to get a better idea of what size he'll be in closer to summer, because he just outgrew 12-18, but I'm not sure whether he'll be 18-24 or 2T.

I might wait until more summer items are on clearance. It doesn't get warm enough for shorts until at least June, and more likely late June/July.

Wow, I should really consider putting our thermostat lower to save energy.... but it is soooo cold! At 75F I already constantly worry if LO is warm enough! I always thought we have a down comforter (supposed to be warmer than fleece? I dont know) but he only has the fleece sleep sack and pajamas..

I do want to say we used to keep the house 68-72 when LO was a newborn because of the temperature guideline. But we were freezing our butts off ourselves.

From today's Isis post on sleep:

A Cool, Ventilated Room
A cool, dark and quiet room works best. When the season has warm days and cool nights, it's reasonable to open the windows for fresh evening air. However, with the windows open, the birds and outdoor sounds will be even louder at 5 AM. A fan in the room to help circulate air is a good option if the windows are closed. Keep the room temperature at 64-69°F for sleep. During cooler months, keep feet warm at night. Remember "warm feet for better sleep". Don't worry if your baby's hands or face feel cool to the touch. Slip your hand under your baby's shirt: if his tummy and chest are warm, he's warm enough.
