Poor little guy! I haven't had to take my lo but for me it was mostly like a regular dr appointment except of course you're talking about GI stuff. GI issues are hard on me so I can only imagine how tough it is to deal with your little one going through it. Hope you have answers soon!

@twodoghouse: I will be pushing for testing as soon as possible. We just moved to a place with public pool and poor guy can't play in the pool with the other kids. :( I also can't put him swim lessons until we get it under control.

@MrsRcCar: poor buddy! If things hadn't resolved on their own, we were going to move forward with testing (Ultrasounding their abdomens, upper GI scope). Since N is older and has dealt with this for awhile, maybe you can push for testing right away. I hope you get some answers quickly!

We had to get the kids undressed for weight, height, etc. but other than that it was all talking. We went over everything with a nurse for a LONG time (twins so we had to describe everything basically twice - ugh). Then the dr reviewed and came in. He was only with us for 15 min. He looked in their throats, ears, felt their bellies, and so on. We were taking a wait and see approach after that so we talked about the plan going forward, reviewed their meds, then we were on our way. The longest part by far was going over all the issues we had seen, what made it better, what made it worse, etc.

@autumnlove: our consult went great. She seems to think that it is all strength. She referred us to speech therapy with direction to call her back if they say we don't qualify. She was concerned about the way he runs but says that he will hopefully grow out of that. Running wasn't even on our radar. She was great at listening to all my concerns and helping us make a plan. We hopefully won't need her in the future but if we do, she is absolutely wonderful.

Tomorrow N is going to see neurology for the first time. We got referred because he has trouble with speech because he doesn't have the correct movements with his tongue. He has trouble with a lot of words and clearing food off the roof of his mouth.

So tell me about what happens at the neuro eval.

***Update***
We just concluded our eval with EI. Both of my boys qualify for speech/feeding/communication services. We will start off next week. It went well I was stressed out but the ladies were so nice!!! Dh and I need to discuss if we want in home services or if we want to do OT therapy at either hospital. I did like the therapist that came today, she is available thru EI or the hospital therapy. Overall I am feeling good. Thank you for all the support.

@MrsRcCar: we are going thru a similar thing with A. At our last follow-up with the NICU they suggested getting A evaluated - not so much because she's showing delays, but they don't want her to get behind, and also because of her feeding issues. Dh thinks that it means there is something "wrong" with her if we do it, but I'd honestly welcome some PT for her and it would give me a better sense of where she is developmentally. We are getting our evaluation next week. Have you set anything up yet?

@MrsRcCar: I think for a lot of people, the acceptance of services is the admission that something is less than perfect. It's like your perfect child/grandchild isn't so perfect anymore, and it can be a tough thing to accept.

My parents are totally fine with it, but then again, I have a special needs brother. So they are familiar with EI.
