Girlfriend, download all the apps! We basically have all the white noise at all times in case of anything going wrong. I am a white noise evangelist now. It's the only way they have been able to sleep through each other!

I realize this is a super old post, but when I forgot our noise machine on a recent trip, I just logged into my in-laws wi-fi, went to youtube, and played a 10 hr relaxation video. I used rain, since that's the sound we use at home. Worked perfectly!

Muji or Calm are apps that have waves, rain, river stream, etc. Both are free if I remember correctly. They are fairly minimalist and have timers!

Hep! Twin MOMS come in!
Our cheapie white noise machine died! The new one isn't here until tomorrow. The fan is on, and so far, so good.l, (our 20 month-olds share a room). What happens if it goes South overnight?! Any ideas?! Or is this our unplanned journey into silent sleep?

We don't use a designated white noise machine, but we have a cool mist humidifer in her room that makes constant white noise.
She's 6 months old, and since the humidifier is going to be in there anyhow, I don't have a plan to wean her off of it.

I started while still in the hospital with DD and she's now 13 weeks. We use it at night and for maybe half of her naps. It definitely helps muffle the sounds of our toddler, and it is an excellent sleep cue.

I think it's even more helpful for naps than at night because of random daytime noise. My LO is 13 months and I'm just starting to think of weaning it. We use a rain setting and it's about 6 feet from his head.

We use it all the time and have since really early on. It blocks out city street noise and apartment noise, plus it's a sleep cue for her. She is pretty reliant on it but she was such a bad sleeper that I'd take anything I could get. (Which is also why we have total blackout blinds).

We still used it for one of the kids I nannied for at 18 months, and they never said it caused them issues. I plan to use it from day one because we'll cosleep and I can't sleep without it myself. When we get around to moving LO out of our room, we'll probably see how they react to no white noise initially, and add it back in if they seem to need it.

I know it's inconvenient for them to need it, but since *I* do we'll never travel without it (I take a fan on all trips), so it's just not a real issue. I'll be a SAHM so they won't need to be able to nap at daycare or anything.

Hi guys,
My LO is two weeks old today and he has slept much better at night since we introduced white noise. I'm a bit nervous about him becoming reliant on it though, so I've been avoiding it during day naps unless he's superfussy.
Did/do you use white noise?
Did/do you use it at night or for all naps?
When did you wean your LO off white noise?

We have a munchkin one, but i haven't tested how loud it is. I guess I've kinda given up seeing as our "average silent home" noise is already between 40 & 50 db. So, Really, all our kids should go deaf just from going to the grocery store or, worse, a kids play place!
