It blocks out city street noise and apartment noise, plus it's a sleep cue for her. She is pretty reliant on it but she was such a bad sleeper that I'd take anything I could get. I plan to use it from day one because we'll cosleep and I can't sleep without it myself. When we get around to moving LO out of our room, we'll probably see how they react to no white noise initially, and add it back in if they seem to need it. </p> <p>I know it's inconvenient for them to need it, but since *I* do we'll never travel without it (I take a fan on all trips), so it's just not a real issue.
