Bumping this! Still have some pregnancy weight to lose and my gym time has been majorly compromised by winter illnesses hitting my family in a vicious circle. My goal is to lose the remaining weight (roughly 15 pounds) by this summer, which is when I will ttc for baby #3.

Just ordered the book and told my husband I need him to join me for support. Any other tips?

@Amelieisme: true, but I have to be careful! I am an all or nothing person too, so I need to stay pretty strict paleo in order to be successful. Traveling makes it really hard! Lucky (or not) for me we just moved 3000 miles so we don't have much $ in the budget for traveling right now.

I'm so impressed you didn't have any cake at your LO's party!

@lady grey: You are past your Whole 30 so you are allowed a "cheat" now and then. I hope I still stick pretty closely when this is over. I am so all or nothing--I could see myself falling off the wagon completely! The empty refrigerator is tricky for sure. The Whole30 way of eating requires planning for sure! DH made a yummy stew last night and we are going to have leftovers tonight, which makes life easier  I know its sort of getting out of stew season, but we had a cold weekend so I thought it was appropriate!

@Amelieisme: that is so awesome, good for you! We just got back from a long weekend getaway and I didn't do the best. Not aweful but I did eat a burger with the bun and have a few bites of LO's muffin...plus coming home to an empty fridge is tricky. Going to spend a lot of time grocery shopping and cooking today! But planning to get right back into paleo eating/as close to whole30 as I can.

Just a little pat on my back: made it through DD's first birthday weekend without officially cheating! I say officially because we did eat out (had family from out of town) and who knows what's in the dry rub, etc. But I did the best I could and didn't have cake! Day 15 here I come.

@Amelieisme: I haven't tried anything yet from there. They have the coconut aminos that I buy from my local health food store, and also Lara bars, which I keep for emergencies. I was interested in ordering some ghee from them, but haven't pulled the trigger on a purchase yet. And coconut oil, but I still have a big jar from Costco.

@lady grey: Yes, I saw that about the stuff at TJ. I'll just use almond butter. Nice to know it worked for you! Also, that oatmeal looks really good. I want to try it!

I made Meatballs over spaghetti squash yesterday from Everyday Paleo. The only thing I did differently was use about 3/4 a cup of almond meal in the meatballs because they seemed like they would fall apart without it. It was so delicious! DH said it rivaled many non-paleo spaghetti and meatballs he has had.

I tried making my own Mayo and failed miserably, but I discovered Mark from Mark's daily apple is now selling one he makes with avocado oil. I can't wait to try it! Would love to add slaws/chicken salad/and deviled egg to my acceptable food list

@sunshineandsushi: That Mayo is on thrivemarket. What else on there have you tried? I already ordered some coconut aminos from Amazon--just waiting for it to be delivered.

@Amelieisme: I looked at the sunbutter at Trader Joes yesterday and it has cane sugar in it. booo! So i'm just going to continue to use my homemade almond butter in that pad thai recipe.

@sunshineandsushi: @Amelieisme: omg you guys! I just tried this paleo "oatmeal" recipe and its actually pretty delicious! http://cupcakesomg.blogspot.com/2013/03/faux-tmeal-paleo-oatmeal.html

@Amelieisme: yikes! I used homemade almond butter, since that what I had on hand. Do you have Trader Joes near you? I know they carry sunbutter, but I haven't checked to see if its whole30 compliant.

@sunshineandsushi: I haven't heard of thrivemarket.com- will check them out. Paleo pad thai is the bomb! Good idea to try it with cauli-rice. I'm sure one glass of wine would be fine, since you are just doing this for the weight loss benefit.

@Amelieisme: Day 11 over here! We have a work happy hour tonight and to be totally honest, I'm thinking about allowing myself a glass of wine. I didn't cheat at all on my last one and I'm not doing it again for the elimination benefits - really I'm doing it to slim down for two weddings I'm in during April. One glass won't ruin in ... ;) But I guess "technically" I will lose my day count. :silly:

You should be able to buy sunbutter at your regular grocery store. I had to visit the local health food store to get coconut aminos though.

Has anyone tried out thrivemarket.com? Looks pretty neat, I'm thinking about ordering my paleo staples from there once I need to restock.

@Amelieisme: hows its going so far? I recently discovered this paleo pad thai recipe, so had to share. Its a little bit involved but turned out sooo good! I made extra sunshine sauce and ate that with some roasted veggies and some sausages today for lunch- yum!

@lady grey: @sunshineandsushi: How's it going ladies? Still going strong, I hope. Day 5 here and so far so good. Its nice to have the experience of last go round and a few tricks up my sleeve. I am lucky to have a paleo restaurant down the street who does a "paleo family special" each Thursday so we are getting that tonight! Ribs, slaw, "paleo biscuits". I'm going to pass on the biscuits myself since they are really not Whole 30 compliant, but I'm sure my kiddos will love them

As far as recipes, here are a few I like:
This is awesome for a quick, family dinner and suprisingly tasty: http://nomnompaleo.com/post/41781593486/whole30-day-29-garbage-stir-fry-with-curried

Love a breakfast casserole, but have left out sweet potato (just because I didn't have any on hand):
http://paleomg.com/easy-breakfast-casserole/

I make a version of this with all of the dairy cut out and the broccoli, so its basically just veggies in a meat sauce, but yummy: http://www.whatrunslori.com/2011/12/paleasagna/

I haven't made these tuna cakes this go round, but they are good and you can freeze for a quick meal over a salad:
http://nomnompaleo.com/post/91332244628/spicy-tuna-cakes

@Amelieisme: that's great! Are you mostly doing new recipes or do you have some tried and true ones from your last whole30?

I had my first ever "cheat" last night on day 26. DH and I went to a bbq place, I got pulled pork and roasted veggies. It was SO good. The pork was suppose to be dry but I could tell it must have had some sugar in it. We went to the movies after I was craving sugar all night! Ugh I haven't had sugar cravings in a few weeks and that's my biggest weakness. Lesson learned!

@Amelieisme: Yup, still going strong! Join back in again! I SAH right now, but pretty much always do leftovers. I love making big batches of stuff in the crockpot so I can have a few days of left over lunches or put individual servings in the freezer. It helps that DH just makes a sandwich for lunch everyday, so we're not fighting over the leftovers :)

Last two days of lunch was this teriyaki chicken with roasted cauliflower. That would be easy to take to work, I'm sure:

@sunshineandsushi: Ha! I just spent like two hours looking at her website last night. I'm def gong to try that chili! and prob the bfast casserole as well.

For bfast I've been sauteing a whole bunch of veggies on the weekend and eating them daily with two fried eggs and some avocado if I have it. Its good but ready to try something else as well.

@lady grey: I did both. I doubled it (but didn't double the eggs.) IBFing know how much pepperoni I used; I just finished whatever was left in an open bag.

@jedeve: @blackbird: do you ladies still put in sausage too, or swap it out and only used pepperoni?

@sunshineandsushi: awesome! the second time is definitely more smooth I think. Any go to recipes to share? I never made my own almond butter last time, but now I can't get enough! I need to be careful not to eat too much of it though,,,,

@blackbird: I ended up making that the other day! I doubled it and added a bell pepper and some pepperoni. My LO would NOT be fooled that jr was spaghetti or pizza, but I served it over some leftover pasta and then he ate it!

Started my second round of Whole30 today! I did it once before in the fall and it went really well. Then, the holidays happened. I need to get back on track for two weddings I'm in during April.

I am for sure not doing Whole30 right now (thanks, girl scout cookies), but I wanted to share that the woman who blogs at the hilarious rantsformommyland.com is doing it. She's posting every day and it's going really well for her.

@lady grey: Yes, eating paleo most of the time, but I have been splurging here and there with sweets  I agree that prepping and cooking everything does take more time, but it's worth it!
