@regberadaisy: we do have the faux 1" wood blinds behind them. I think it was more the shade of the sheer then the sheer it's self.

I love the look of sheer curtains as well! Do they look that horrible with blinds behind? I was thinking of 1" faux wood blinds.

I like heavier ones as well! I had sheer pink ones in high school and they were kind of pointless for blocking out light (I had blinds as well though, it wasn't scandalous!).

DH FINALLY let me buy new curtains for our living and dinning room. We both compromised on what we wanted & made the purchase.

My lesson learned is that I now remember why I did not want sheer curtains...they are sheer! I don't mind having them on the windows when they are layered with a thicker heavy material over them, just not buy themselves. Probably wouldn't have been so bad if it was a light colored sheer but these were merlot sorbet (royal purple color) so our white blinds were very easy to see through them. Needless to say my OCD kicked into over drive!

What type of window treatments do you like & why?
I prefer heavier thicker material mostly for privacy but they are also a lot more energy efficient.
