Just a warning about triple paste... we LOVE it and it's so effective, but, if you're not SURE that it isn't yeast don't use it. Triple Paste contains corn starch which can feed the yeast. For yeast rash Lotrimin AF is most effective.

The only thing I can think of is to use plain wet paper towels instead of wipes while he has te rash. I read (online somewhere) that wipes can be irritating/painful when they have diaper rash. I also made sure to do loose diapers/no pants when at home, after some diaper free time to air out.. Not sure how thatd work with a boy (leakage wise.) No advice as to the cause, hope it goes away very soon!

I would just use paper towels or cloths dipped in water to clean baby's bottom instead of the wipes. It also sounds like yeast to me but it's hard to say without seeing (or smelling, I know gross sorry) it. A good barrier cream like those mentioned above and lots of naked baby time. Poor thing, I know it must be miserable :(

@MrsRcCar: I usually do three inches of water in her bath tub and then sprinkle maybe a 1/2 cup of baking soda around her once she's sitting in there.

@MrsRcCar: :( we dealt with a lot of raw, broken skin diaper rash and it is awful, I'm so sorry :( What worked best for us was rinsing with water instead of using wipes, then diaper free time until he was bone dry, then a thin layer of clotrimazole and a THICK layer of triple paste.

I'm so sorry you're dealing with this! Definitely the description made me immediately think it was a yeast infection, but if your doctor doesn't think so... :(

What works best for us is keeping it dry! So make sure after diaper changes, you get the area dry before applying your diaper rash cream and putting the diaper back on. And I hear going diaper free helps too!

Triple Paste! Lay it on thick - that stuff is awesome!

Hope it gets cleared up soon!

I was going to suggest Lotrimin but you said its not fungal - then again wouldn't hurt to try!

I would probably call the PCP and bring him in...could be a yeast rash that will need some type of ointment to clear it up. I hope you figure it out soon. It's so heartbreaking to see them so upset...

omg, poor guy :( I wish I had tips but it seems like you've tried everything I have thought of. I will say, a friend of mine sells Ava Anderson (organic) and a lot of my friends have purchased the diaper cream (I have too!) and SWEAR by it healing anything you can think of.

Warm baths with baking soda, and then a thick layer of triple paste covered in a layer of aquaphor (creates a better moisture barrier) always does the trick for us. I'm sorry your little guy is suffering!!

N has an awful diaper rash. His bottom is red and raw. Also his bottom has broken open in some spots. Diaper changes are a nightmare, he just shakes and screams. The only real change in his diet recently is that we have more fully committed to a gluten free home. We have been gluten free for the most part for a while.
N is wearing Huggies snug and dry diapers and we use pampers sensitive wipes. None of this is different or changed.
We have tried: A&D ointment, butt paste, coconut oil, balm ex,cortisone cream, babyganics, and his doctor doesn't think it is fungal. We give diaper free time and after almost every BM we soak his bottom in warm bath water. We make sure that he is bottom is completely dry before we put his diaper on.

Fellow bees please help! N is so miserable and it breaks my heart.
