I'm definitely not a heel wearer, but pulled off heals and dresses up to 34w or so (was due in Oct).

Dresses were best (as mentioned above) and I hope this isn't TMI or I'm on my own here, but spandex shorts saved my life this summer. I wore 6" inseam under armour ones under evvvvverything. I don't know what it was about being preggo that made down there not so awesome and the shorts saved my life and kept me so much more comfortable, lol. Sorry/just trying to help, lol.

@marionberry: I don't remember exactly, but I am pretty sure my Stay Puff Marshmallow Woman-ness was in full swing by 30 weeks. I remember starting to swell around 24/25ish weeks.

ETA: I swelled a lot. Like a lot a lot. It was one of the reasons I was induced a little early. You may not swell at all, so you may not need bigger shoes. :)

@marionberry: No. It was pretty easy (I am sooooo a heels girl!). What was hard was how swollen I was. Even after going up a half size, my shoes got suuuuuuuper tight at the end of the day. But I walked into L&D in 3" heels.

@marionberry: I am NOT a heel wearer whatsoever, but I have a friend who lives in heels and wore them right up until the end and looked great. But be prepared for a lot of people to tell you you shouldn't be wearing them, that it's dangerous, etc. She used to get really annoyed about that.

@MsLipGloss: Did you have a hard time wearing heels when you were that pregnant? I'm definitely a heel wearer (and I look horrible in flats) but am worried about if I can still manage heels when I'm that big.

Thanks ladies! I'm finding that cardigans will be the answer to making anything that's a bit casual work friendly. And I have plenty of those!

I was at Target today and in the Juniors section they actually have some cute dresses (maxi and non) that could work for pregnancy. I only got one but there are tons. Also I picked up some maternity capri leggings which I think I'll end up wearing a lot.

I still need to get shorts and tanks. Ladies, did you prefer Gap shorts or Motherhood Maternity or another brand?

I was due in November so the better part of last summer was the second trimester for me :)

for work i bought 4 pairs of maternity pants, but usually ended up wearing dresses (both maternity and non) with a cardigan

outside of work i lived in maxi dresses, two pairs of shorts, and gap maternity tanks! :D

@MrsTiz: Target has a lot of cute maternity dresses in store right now too. I didn't try anything on, since I presume my bump will be a lot bigger by the time it's warm enough for them, but they looked really nice on the hanger.

I think maxi dresses always make me look pregnant, so I'm totally planning to embrace them this summer (due July 30). Bonus-- with maxi dresses/skirts it won't be that obvious if it's been a while since I could reach my legs to shave them.

I had my baby last October so I was pregnant all summer. I loved the maternity tanks from Target. Also loved my maxi dress and maxi skirt. And I got a lot of wear out of my maternity shorts and capris from Motherhood Maternity store. I dress pretty casual at work. So I wore my maternity jeans everyday with some sort of flowy cardigan over a maternity tank.

ETA: I also want to add that I still wear my maternity tanks from Target! They are awesome. I love how long they are.

I was in the same boat last year (Oct 1 baby) and it was one of the hottest on record here! Here was my staples:

Empire waisted dresses/maxi dresses in breathable/light fabrics
tank tops with skirts/shorts
tunic tops with leggings and fun sandals

Comfort was number one for me, but I do like to dress up, I embraced my belly and loved to show it off, so that made it a lot easier!

I did buy maternity shirts because my boobs were way too big to fit into anything normal, but I got most of them from Target or Motherhood on sale.

I wasn't pg in summer- though I wish I was! So much easier to get dressed. My sister was pg in the summer.
I would say:

- maxi dresses - they are ADORABLE on pregnant women!
- maxi skirts with tanks
- other flowy, breezy, non constricting dresses
- drawstring shorts (my sister didn't get maternity shorts, just shorts from target that were drawstring instead)
- tank tops - again she didn't buy maternity, she bought the long and lean tops from target. I think they're $5 right now!

I wore a lot of non-maternity maxi dresses for the weekends--so easy!-- and mostly maternity skirts with a silk top and heels for work during the week. I always had a completer piece with me for work, i.e., a jacket or a cardigan, just in case I needed more arm coverage or I got a chill. But last summer was sooooooooo hot - I don't remember ever being chilly!

I'm due in late September, so the biggest part of my pregnancy will be during the summer. This is my first pregnancy and I was curious what were your go to staples if you were pregnant during the summer? Both for work (we're pretty business casual) and for weekends/everyday? I've bought a few things but they're certainly aimed more at getting through Spring, not Summer.
