@Kemma: The cereal is just rice.
@regberadaisy: I am thinking of just skipping cereal too. My toddler loves the cereal.
@avivoca: I haven't tried pouches with him. Perhap that might go better.

I think we just may hold off on more solids for a little while longer.

H really didn't get into solids until closer to 8 months. I worried a lot, but she was growing fine on mostly breast milk. Have you tried food in pouches and letting him suck it out?

It's possible he's not ready yet, not all babies are by 6 months.

But if he likes fruits and vegetables just fine I would skip cereal. There's no real need for cereal Imo.

@MrsRcCar: could there be an ingredient in the cereal that's causing the vomiting? Or maybe it's just too much starch? At least you know he's getting all the good stuff he needs from the breastmilk :-)

Fwiw Miss A didn't really get into food until much closer to a year, she didn't want to eat off a spoon but she was happy sucking on finger foods - even if she didn't really digest anything!

@Kemma: We may have to try him on banana or avocado. I am just a little worried. N was such an excited eater and boy are these boys different. Plus a little alarming to me that he promptly vomits the cereal up.

So here is another feeding post from me. Sorry in advance.

E is 7.5 months old 6.25ish months adjusted. He nurses awesomely and is gaining just fine. However we were encouraged to give solids a go. The first time E had cereal it all came back up, I thought it was a fluke, as he does spit up often. However every time he has cereal he throws it back up. (Legit vomit) Not to mention when he is eating it he just lets it roll around in his mouth. He seems to do ok with plain fruit and veggie purées as long as they are kinda thick. Some problem with it just rolling around in his mouth. He doesn't seem to be excited for food. E seems interested in our food and his brothers food but he isn't excited in his own.
I guess I am just wondering if perhaps we are having some feeding issues due to his premature arrival. He was also tongue and lip tied.
Any suggestions?

This is why I love this community. I left the doctors office extremely worried; even though my doctor told me not to worry that the baby was probably just completely fine. With all of you wonderful bees sharing positive outcomes it makes me feel so much better.

I measured at least 2cm behind until around 32 weeks, when all of a sudden baby flipped/grew and I caught up. I'm sure everything will work out just fine - fundal height isn't always a great measure of how baby's growing in there!

@Sparkler: I am trying to focus on the extra peek at my little guy, and not on the small measurement. I have been on the light end of weight gain too. My first little guy was 8lbs 3 ounces (so not so little I guess)

I measured small (like 4-5 weeks behind) with both my pregnancies, had weekly ultrasounds on account of it, only gained about 20 lbs total and had nearly 8 lb babies. I ate like a horse, but everyone is different and the fundal height is just one small indicator. They worry about amount of fluid and growth, but just measuring small alone doesn't mean there is a problem. I had no issues and just got lots of extra screen time with the babies. Good luck!

This pregnancy has been so different then with N. I know they say that each pregnancy is different I guess I never thought they could be this different. On a bonus side My ultrasound will be in 3D. Looks like I will be going to my ultrasound alone (with N). I think everyone has to work.

I measured behind the whole pregnancy both times. With my DD, I was consistently 2-3 cm behind, going up to 4 cm behind the last few weeks. The midwives were never worried and we never did any growth scans as everything else looked great. DD was 7 lbs 6 oz and 21 inches, so a very normal size.

I'm 38 weeks with my second now and I had been 2 cm behind since they started measuring, but at my 36 week appt, I was only measuring 31 cm. I thought they might be concerned as it was 5 cm behind but the midwife said it's fine and likely due to the way the baby is laying. At my 38 week appt this week, I was measuring 35.5 cm so it's catching up....or more than likely, the baby just shifted.

Either way, no one puts much stock into fundal height here and I have consistently been told not to worry if the measurements don't line up as it's a very imprecise practice anyway!

I measured small at the end of my second trimester and was already being seen by maternal fetal for my GD. I'm petite and my first was tiny but healthy at 5lbs 13oz. Maternal fetal and my OB insisted that I be heavily monitored. Towards the end I had to go in for ultrasounds twice a week. Baby was fine in each ultrasound and always growing on track (just smaller than average). There was honestly nothing to worry about, and I hate that the doctors put me through so much stress. They all wanted to induce me at 39 weeks, and I had to reason with them to let me go to 40 as long as baby was healthy in ultrasounds. Baby was born at 39 weeks 1 day. I went into labor naturally, and he was 6lbs 1oz. He was healthy with no issues. Now he is 11 lbs 6 oz at 11 weeks.

I measured around 2-3 cm behind for most of my pregnancy and was sent for a growth ultrasound. And I have weird weight gain, I gain in the first trimester and early second and then I stop gaining weight for awhile. It's good to get checked out but for my girl she was on the bigger side and is in the 75th percentile now that she's born, she just liked to sprawl out in my belly, no fetal position for her.
Best wishes, I know it can be nerve wracking.

Yes, I started measuring small at the end and everything was fine. At the growth ultrasound they said she was already 35 weeks maybe they said LO was already 7lbs 8oz. Not small at all. The technician laughed at my OB for sending me and said she sees it all the time. LO was just hiding deep inside.

So of course then I worried about my BIG baby. To my surprise she was only 6lb10oz (but 21 inches) when she was born at 41 weeks. The measurements are far from precise.

I had an appointment this morning with my OB/GYN, and she ordered a growth ultrasound because I have consistently measured behind the last couple of visits. The change this visit is that I am measuring almost 3 cm behind and I haven't gained any weight in the last two weeks. I am 32 weeks 5 days today and I am measuring right at 30. I am really worried that my little guy isn't growing well, which makes me feel like I am failing as his mommy.

The last couple of mornings we have noticed that my LO has shakes in the morning. (like tremors localized to his hands and arms). I know that sometimes this happens with me if my blood sugar is too low. The tremor goes away after he has had his milk and breakfast and we haven't noticed it any other time. It has me so worried! I am getting his blood sugar checked out just in case. :/

Has this happened to anyone else? Any more ideas other then blood sugar problems?
