I do love the Girasols too! The trouble I keep having is I fall in LOVE with a print and then it is out of stock. Then begins a wild goose chase all over the internet that typically leads me no where.

How tall are you? I was thinking I would order a size 6 but I have heard that if you are petite it can be really long.

@Protectlove: I have a size 6 Girasol in Northern Lights. I really really love it! My LO is 11mo and about 23ish lbs. We didn't have a breaking in period really - I washed it a few times to get it a little softer. We typically front wrap cross carry (FWCC) and I will either wrap on me or do a pop-able depending on what we're doing. I use Robin's hip carry a lot but the tails drive me crazy because my wrap is so LONG! We've done a few back carries but I have a hard time doing it without help b/c I have a wiggly leg straightener. I highly suggest a Girasol. Like I said, the only drawback for me is that with a hip carry I have some really long tails. I might need to buy a ring sling for hip carries ;)

@littlebittyhouse: Which wrap did you go with?
I have spent far too much time researching and still have yet to come up with a decision on a woven. My daughter is 10 months and I am 21 weeks pregnant. The carriers I have used up to know have gotten uncomfortable now that my belly has showed up. I am leaning towards the Easycare wrap because I adore the colors but have been slowed down by the breaking in period it takes.
There are no lending libraries in my area so as much as I would love to try before I buy- its not an option. I have to just jump in with my fingers crossed!

I would love to hear more about what wrap you got!

I switched to a woven wrap after LO outgrew the moby. I really liked wrapping and knew that I wanted to continue on.

Pros:
Happy baby!
Secure
Supportive
Easy to nurse
No adjusting the size to fit mom/dad
Fits in diaperbag
Gorgeous color options

Cons:
Learning curve to wrapping
Potential cost - A larger wrap with work for all carries but if you want a 'shortie' wrap for quick hip carries you'll need another wrap.

@Mrs. Jacks: Oh. Is it stretchy?
We have a soft structured carrier, too (Beco Gemini) but my friend has an orange and a blue Girasol. She let me borrow the blue one and I LOOOOOOOVE it!
The Ergo is definitely convenient for a bigger baby and we already have a carrier (Beco), so this woven wrap is really just an extra thing that I don't need and just want.

@sarac: Me too! I am also really enjoying borrowing this one. :) It's a blue Girasol.
@Mrs. Jacks: Cool! I am just getting into the wovens and haven't heard of many--just started looking them up this week. My LO is almost 6 months and we are just starting now. He LOVES it.
@zippylef: Can you link to the vamp color? I can't find it!
@LivsMama: I want a ring sling, too. Getting obsessed with carriers is dangerous to my wallet!

Ahh, I see. I had to give up babywearing by that point because I had so little back strength. Now I've taken it back up because I've built up so much muscle carrying her anyway. Now I want one of these.

@sarac: You're not really supposed to use a stretchy wrap past 15lbs. After your child is that heavy, the wrap loosens too much and it isn't considered secure.

I want a Girasol SO BAD. I want the Vamp color. I'm stalking this post.

I have a dupioni silk Ring Sling from Sakura Bloom, but its a sling and not a wrap. I tried the Moby and just wasnt a fan, which is why I got the sling. I still carry her in it now at 16 months when shes awake. I also have an Ergo, bc when she falls asleep its easier to wear her in that.

@sarac: The non stretchy kind can be worn on your back. :)

I only used a moby, but I was mad for it. I had several in different fabrics. Is this so different? I didn't know that stretchy vs non-stretchy was such a big deal.

Does anyone baby wear with a non-stretchy woven wrap--like a Girasol?

My friend lent me her Girasol and I totally love it! I want to buy a woven carrier (or make one if that's possible). Do you use a wrap? How many ways do you wear your baby? How is the learning curve? How long of a wrap did you get? (and how tall are you--does it make a difference in how long your wrap needed to be?)

What brand of wrap do you use?
