I've had them so often that Diflucan is the only thing that really works. My first OBGYN treated it like a yeast infection because he didn't know what it was, but it kept coming back. If you're positive it's a yeast infection, you might want to try some feminine probiotics. There are a few that are supposed to be helpful specifically with vaginal flora/fauna. The doctor also suggested switching to soy formula to rule out a dairy allergy, which I'm more hesitant to try along with everything else in case there's a soy allergy too, but I guess it's worth a shot. I just assumed she'd have more symptoms if it was food related, but maybe not. DD has a terrible yeast diaper rash recently and none of the medicated yeast treatments did anything. Long time lurker, first time poster :)</p> <p>My 6 month old daughter has had a rash for going on 3 weeks. She has had a yeast rash around her neck and chest from drool in the past and Nystatin was able to very slowly clear that up. This time, the rash is all over her body--neck, chest, arms, legs, back, and now her face. The only area it doesn't seem to be reaching is her diaper area. Our pediatrician believes it looks like yeast to her, albeit a pretty bad case, and has prescribed Nystatin--the ointment and powder--and an oral Diflucan. So far, nothing has worked and it's only gotten worse. It doesn't seem to bother her too much though and no fever or any other symptoms. </p> <p>We have an appointment with a pediatric dermatologist next week but I'm wondering if any of you have experienced a rash like this, what was causing it (ie. could it be a milk/food/detergent allergy thing?), and what you used to get rid of it. Lotrimin did not work on our yeast. We dealt with a yeast rash for all of May. First I used Nystatin and Butt Paste. It went away after a few days, then came back. Then the Dr. added in hydrocortisone. Didn't really see a change, so she finally added an antibiotic cream. Knock wood, that seemed to have done the trick. She also said stop the Butt Paste and switch to Aquaphor. I hated using all those medications at once but the combo finally helped. THEN I repeated the acv soak but followed by stripping the dipes instead of a regular soap wash, &amp; then sunned them. I read that you can use tto BUT to get the dilution you need to really "treat" yeast you'd have to put a ton so I just went the acv, hot water, &amp; hot dry/sunning way.</p> <p>For the probiotic, I got a liquid kind (don't remember the brand) &amp; gave P 1 ml a few times a day via syringe. Tbh I stopped using it early bc she had/has a dairy &amp; soy intolerance &amp; at the time I couldn't find one that wasn't cultured in either dairy or soy. I do know they make pedi probiotics too though... I think Target carries them!</p> <p>And I didn't try nystatin so I don't know much about it but I'd think even a small spray bottle with water &amp; 5+ drops of tto would work &amp; that's natural.... How much did you give to P? Did you just rub it on her gums?<br /> Did you use any certain brand of diapers in the interim?</p> <p>I will admit I didn't use the Nystatin for very long...I was uber freaked out about the contraindications. There's gotta be a better treatment than steroids I figured.. </p>
