@gilmoregirl: Not sure about the zofran, but I wanted to add that I had terrible headaches from about 15 weeks to 20 weeks with both of my pregnancies so far. I'm not sure why and they do let up but it's not fun while they are happening!

I took zofran from week 8-18, and did experience mild headaches. Honestly, they were better than my extreme nausea, so I grinned through it. Eventually, I think I stopped noticing the headaches, so it became far less of a bothersome issue.

I took Zofran a handful of times and I never had a headache. Maybe you need some time to adjust to it? I think I recall headaches and dizziness being one of the possible side effects?

With that said, if I had to substitute one for the other, I'd MUCH rather have a headache than nausea! My nausea was KILLERRRR.

So I was prescribed Zofran at my 16-week appointment yesterday because I am still vomiting and it's affecting my ability to do my job and live my life. My doctor suggested that I take it regularly for a few days and then begin taking it on an as-needed basis. Right now, I'm taking one (8mg) pill a day.

I'm already finding that it makes a huge difference for me as far as nausea and vomiting -- I feel more normal than I have in months -- but I am getting a non-stop, killer headache. I've done Tylenol, lots of water, and a bit of caffeine, all of which help somewhat.

Mostly I am wondering, though, if anyone else has experience with this headache. Did it eventually let up? If you were sick later into your pregnancy, did you ever feel better? I'm hopeful that it's partly bad now because I'm adjusting. I'm also hopeful that the sickness will last maybe a few more weeks and I'll be okay...but I'm just trying to be optimistic :)

@tororojo: nope didn't help my nausea. Actually I threw up the coffee more often than not, but it still helped! I tried not to take Zofran with my first and suffered a lot. I found that taking regularly helped build it up in my system, but even missing one pill meant bad things for me. With my second I was much more consistent and the sickness wasn't nearly as bad. Of course that also meant I had to then deal with the side effects of Zofran, but that was much easier for me than the consequences of not taking it.

@Honeybee: When I got really desperate to poop a few weeks ago, I went to Starbucks and that did help! I'm not a regular coffee drinker though. Does it help with your nausea or just constipation? This morning I fought through it and didn't take the zofran after all, so that should help!

@tororojo: Have you tried coffee? My go-to pregnancy breakfast is a cup of coffee and a Fiber One bar. Even if I throw it up, it seems to help. Also, maybe ask your doctor about what else you can take. Constipation is a serious problem on these drugs, and it can cause big issues besides just discomfort.

I still have it in my third trimester, but it's only when I forget to take my anti-nausea tablets that I really feel it. Don't feel bad about taking medicine! I was on two different types for the first 20 weeks and it was a life saver, I feel like baby was better off when I wasn't a hot mess of sickness.

@MaisyMay: @tororojo: my mw told me that fruits actually tend to make you more sick because they are a fast digesting food... meaning the fast it digests, the faster it could come up :P she recommended pairing fruit with protein or "substance", such a peanut/almond butter, oatmeal, nuts, etc.

I was sick the entire first half of my pregnancy... finally felt better between 18-20 weeks. I didn't take zofran at all just because in general I'm against medication (but that does not mean you shouldn't - if it helps you need to do what's best for you!!). I threw up every morning... it was awful.
Finally what helped tame it was tea! Earth Mama Angel Baby morning wellness tea. It was a lifesaver.
Thankfully it didn't return :)

Waaaaah! Tomorrow I'll be 15 weeks along and I still feel like puking daily--is this normal? I am averaging about 1 Zofran a day still. This morning I have been fighting it, trying not to pop a pill, but I think I'm about to cave. I feel like a failure when I resort to taking medicine, but maybe that's stupid. I just don't want to keep taking it for the next 6 months! Any other miserable 2nd trimester moms-to-be out there? When did it go away (did it go away?) ?
