I had to do the 24 hour catch multiple times. It's a pain in the butt, but not bad. I made sure I was home though. Couldn't imagine keeping my jug of urine in the fridge at work. haha!

@Smurfette: my doctor had me do it to establish a baseline. I don't have any symptoms but given my weight and other risk factors, she felt like baseline would be helpful.

Thanks everyone!! Yea... that would be really weird to have a bottle of urine at my office, ha ha! I'll schedule my pee-day for a day I'm home all day. @Phillybaby2013: good call on asking for two jugs!

Yep I've done the 24 hr urine lots of times. You can't really go out because you need to collect all your pee and keep it in the fridge.
It's not that big of a deal.

@MrsLilybugg: That makes sense then. A friend had to do it the same weekend as her shower. So she just brought over a cooler and kept it in an upstairs bathroom. That way everyone didn't know about it.

I've done the 24 hour urine test a few times now, once for thyroid stuff before pregnancy and once just a few days ago because I've also been having high BP readings in the office (but it just turned out to be anxiety!)

It's not terrible but definitely a little inconvenient. If you can manage to stay home, I would. You have to collect your urine every time you go for 24 hours, and pour it into this jug. The jug has to be refrigerated or kept on ice so that would for sure be awkward in an office.

I just did the 24 hour urine last week. I'd recommend getting 2 jugs. I'm a huge water drinker but was home when I did the test and didnt drink nearly as much as usual and still filled the jug before I went to bed that night. I wasn't too concerned as I was already over 39 weeks and they're inducing me anyway but at your stage and history I would want an accurate result. It would be super helpful if you were home during the time for the test bc it would be a major PITA to keep the jug with you say at work. And it's supposed to stay refrigerated.... Good luck!

I did the 24 hour test. I stayed home from work because the jug needs to stay in the fridge. It wasn't too bad, just annoying to have to remember to grab it every time I had to go which at that point was a lot since I was 35 weeks.

@Smurfette: Yea , I think they want me to do that because there's a history of high blood pressure in my family, and when they took my pressure the first appointment it was high. BUT that was because I was soooooo nervous!!!! It was my first u/s and I couldn't sleep that night so anxious and worried for baby! I think they want to compare these results for a later test if they decide to re-test in third Tri.
Boooo.

I haven't heard of anyone doing the 24 hour urine test unless you are showing signs of pre-eclampsia.

I didn't think the glucose drink was as bad as people were saying it was. Tasted like a flat Orange Soda from McDonalds I drank when I was little.

Just drank the orange sugary drink for the 1 hour glucose test. It tasted like flat orange Fanta! It's particularly torturous to have to fast for this one hour because it's usually my lunch hour. AGH! I'll also be getting my second sequential labwork when I go back. (my clinic is literally 5 minutes from my office. Score!) I'll ALSO have to pick up the 24 hour urine jug that tests for Pre-eclampsia. Has anyone done that? I hear you're not supposed to go out the day you do that one, unless you want to carry around a jug of pee. Ew!
Nervous about this 1 hr glucose. I hear it's easier to pass the 3 hr than the 1 hr. I hope I get results fast!
