it's that age. When my eldest daughter was 1, I planned it so she'd nap in the stroller during the walk to the grocery store (my stroller was our cart). Online grocery shopping was a saving grace at that time too!

Now with a 4 yo and a 1 yo, it's even trickier. Sometimes I can go to the market during their stroller naptime (or at least when one is napping)... other times I just have to keep the little one entertained in the cart... Usually with snacks. One of the stores near us has a toy car that attaches to the front... My older LO loves it; my 1 yo has yet to sit still in it though... maybe when she is closer to 2.

My one can't walk yet :) She sits in the cart. Some days are great and she will play with my keys happily but other days she is a crazy baby who acts like she wants to play with everything I grab, so I'll give her something and then she throws it on the floor. Then she gets upset if I don't give it back to her.

DS always sits in the cart even at almost 4. I attempted to let him roam but he is a runner and gets into everything. It's just to much of a hassle. He went threw a phase where he hated the cart and would scream almost the entire time. Now we are in a good place and he is fine with it. Now my daycare girl (she is 2) is in the cart hating phase. Her Mom and I are both just making her sit in the cart even if she is screaming. I'm not ashamed to be "The Mom with the screaming kids" lol.

LO hasn't discovered that kind of freedom. She sits in the cart mesmerized by all the people and things to look at. If she gets antsy, an Arrowroot cookie always helps. :)

I either carry her in the Ergo while at the grocery store or she has learned to sit in the cart. I usually try to give her a snack while we are shopping or she picks out a piece of fruit which is a treat.

DH and DD do all the grocery shopping together. I honestly don't know how he does it!

I usually carried DD when I had to shop on my own. Now I try to go to the store while she's napping at home with DH (I honestly prefer to shop by myself anyways since it ends up being less expensive as DH often "adds" to the list).

@chopsuey119: I love when they have those little shopping carts, I haven't found a store around here that has them though :(.

The piece of food keeps her occupied for the 5 minutes she'll sit in the cart but then she's excited to see everything else around her.

When DH goes with me to the market we let Lo push a mini cart around. Haha he hates it because she'll grab whatever she wants and will throw it in her cart.
When it's just me and Lo I give her a piece of fruit and it keeps her preoccupied for most of the time :) I'm usually in and out in 15 mins.

Jeesh - it's exhausting! LO will sit in the cart for about 5 minutes before she wants to run around and explore. For awhile she then helps me push the cart and then I'll find her something to keep her hands occupied, then she stops and says 'hi' to everyone then she wants to run. Do I just have a wild child or is this how grocery store shopping is with a kid this age?
