Definitely a membership to a zoo, aquarium, or children's museum. Sounds like the parents don't want any more stuff, which is totally reasonable even if they have a big house.

(FWIW, for a one-year-old, there is no difference between what a boy and a girl would enjoy for a gift. So your expertise is just as relevant.)

If you want to think outside the box, how about if you took him out for a really special day? Obviously, you'd have to ask his parents, but maybe a week or two after his birthday, you could take him out to something that he enjoys. You get to do something fun with him and his parents can get some time on their own.

A bit more within the box would be a cool membership. Zoo, museum, pool, aquarium. Or GC to a paid indoor playspace (if they have one close by).

For a physical present, I agree with MagnaTiles.

How about an annual membership to a local kids museum or zoo/aquarium? We got one for the aquarium when LO was around that age and it was great.

Magnatiles? He would be a bit young for them but could grow into them, they're pricey, and they don't take up much space. Or a balance bike.

So...my nephew is turning 1. I usually spoil them a bit on their first birthdays. My sister this year has basically asked that we not get him much bc they just dont have space (ridiculous...they have a 3000 sq ft house).

So - I usually go for the bargain stuff (more bang for my buck) and I have only girls...so boy stuff is not my norm.

If you had $100 to basically buy 1 cool toy or something for a 1 year old boy what would you get?

(FWIW - I could certainly give him money to put towards schooling/future but the reality is his parents are loaded and have those items covered - so why not spoil him?)
