My LO started sleeping through right around 10 months. I did have to night wean but he wasn't too phased by it. I had tried earlier to more protest so I waited and tried again

And like others said yes, we upped the solids but he doesn't eat that much at dinner. I felt a lot of pressure to feed him more food but it was futile ... He eats when he wants!

@AnnabelleG: my guy starting sleeping through the night after I stopped nursing during his once awake (around 3am) BUT I only stopped nursing when I was sure he wasn't hungry or actually in need of food, I think he was 11 months. He wakes every once in awhile but goes back down pretty easily.

Our almost 9 month old started to sleep through the night once we upped his solid foods. I wS feeding him @4 oz of solids per meal, but he literally needed 2x that much (I'm not kidding). Granted he is an enormous baby, but try increasing his solids and see if that helps!

It sounds like solids are a big component. If he's up hungry for 2 feedings he's needing like 200-ish more calories during the day. Some yogurt and one other meal should do it. But FWIW there's a regression around 10months!

@DesertDreams88: He doesn't love solid food yet, so I'm hopeful once he's eating more that will help!

When do you feed dinner and how much / what kind of food?

LO started effortlessly STTN when we started doing a bedtime snack 45-60 minutes before bed, always solid food that would take awhile for him to process (whole grains, veggies, meat).

@Mrs. Pickle: that's good to know! He does wake up crying and I wait a minute or two, but maybe I'll try to wait longer.

My DD night weaned on her own at 11.5 months. I had to sleep train her to get her to stop nursing to sleep but not to drop the night feedings.

Does he wake up crying? How quickly do you go in? I wonder if you waited 5 minutes or so if he'd go back to sleep. That could be a gentle way to get him to sttn. I have no experience though, just an idea.

Ok. My first son was such a disaster sleeper that we hired a sleep doula (that's another story) and had to do real sleep training. It was the worst, but it worked. Fast forward 2 years, and now our 2nd son is 10-months old. We did things better with him, and followed the annoying advice to put him down sleepy but awake. Lo and behold, he falls asleep on his own! But, he wakes up in the night 1-2 times. The times vary a lot, but he's almost always hungry. He eats and eats and then goes back to sleep (none of the rocking, singing, shushing, bouncing that we did with son #1). My question is:

Did anyone have a baby (10m+) that started sleeping through the night on their own? Am I going to have to nightwean sleep train? I don't want to but I also want to sleep through the night eventually. TIA!
