Poor kid-- it did develop into a little cold after all, so not just drool gagging. The silver lining is she is so snuggly. Lately she just has too much to do and see to snuggle in your lap, but since she isn't feeling great she will just sit and snuggle.

@.twist.: lol at deathwiththis!

@Foodnerd81: I think a humidifier would definitely help! In would try one for sure.

OK I'm glad to hear it sounds like drool to you guys too (though, of course, I guess that's how I described it...) Dr. Google led me down the path of anything from asthma to pertussis (OK fine, I know it isn't pertussis).

It is so sad though. A humidifier probably wouldn't help, right?

Sounds totally normal! It's probably the teeth. It's unfortunate that it's waking her up so much though!

We put baby Vicks on his feet and chest and use a humidifier with baby Vicks pads and it helps a lot!

Hylands also makes cold tablets and cough syrup, but I don't recall the age it's safe for. There's also a natural cough syrup made by zarbee's that helped a little.

Good luck, I know it's tough seeing them sick :( breaks my heart every time.

Yup!! We have had this for 3.5 months! It's the pits when the coughing wakes them up. I think you're probably right about the drool going down the wrong hole - I hope C gets better really soon.

For the last few days, C has been coughing in her sleep and waking herself up-- sometimes completely, sometimes just a cry or two then she resettles herself. But the coughing sounds so sad-- it's not phlegmy really, or hacking, just like if you swallow wrong and can't stop coughing for a minute. It happens several times in a 1 hour nap.

Has anyone experienced this? She will cough occasionally when she is awake, but not much, and she seems fine other than a clear runny nose sometimes. She's definitely teething and drooling a lot, so I feel like it's either she is gagging/coughing on drool going down her throat, or the air is dry and she needs a humidifier, which we don't own yet.

I don't think it's serious enough to take to the ped or anything, but if she is still doing it when they open on Tues I may call the nurse-- and I emailed my friend who is a ped too. Just wondering if there is anything to do to make her more comfortable-- and stop waking herself up coughing.
