@Mrs. Bee: The sock with rice thing is GENIUS!! I wonder if that will work for DS at daycare.

@mrsjazz: we just put garbage bags up with painter's tape if you need a temporary solution. we've done that when we traveled!

the routine was so ingrained both charlie and olive have always slept well when we've traveled.

once we start the routine, olive usually starts yawning. we do the same thing in the same order every day. and 20 minutes of rocking is too long. we've been rocking olive to sleep lately (she was previously sleep trained for 8 months but sickness threw her off), and it usually takes a couple minutes at most.

also did you see my sock trick on the swarm post about sleep? i keep a sock filled with rice in olive's crib and we put it on her back so that she thinks it's our hand. it works so well!

@Mrs. Bee: I will ask about darkening the room. The nanny does the pat back and sing routine, but she said she gets tired of doing it after 20 minutes, ha!

We don't have a routine, so I think I will try to institute one at home and tell the nanny about it.

can the room be darkened? white noise? lovey? a stroller nap?

you're in the midst of the famous 9 month sleep regression and she may grow out of it herself.

i found that a strong routine has always helped. ours was sleep sack, books, pat back/rock while singing twinkle little star, white noise, lights out.

My 10-month-old won't nap at the nanny share. She needs to either take 2 naps or 1 long one and she only takes 15 minute naps at the nanny share. She used to be a better napper, but since she hit 9 months that's all gone out the window.

At home on the weekends she naps better, but I breastfeed her and her sleeping conditions are different (she sleeps in a darkened room). Sometimes DH and I nap with her.

I feel bad for our nanny! Any suggestions on how to get her to nap?
