@brownepiano: thanks for responding... Yeah he just hates that crib so we're back in the bassinet. Last night he was up every 2 mins- 3 hours. 😣😣 I don't know what else to try. Guess he's just a bad sleeper

My 2nd kid had gas, not reflux, and I thought his sleep was terrible at night for a while. Then around 12 weeks he finally learned how to pass gas, found his thumb, and we started letting him sleep on his belly in our room (well large closet) in a packnplay. All the sudden he was sttn. Like all night.

We were ok with putting him on his stomach because he had very good neck control (could lift his head and turn it), he was 2 feet from our bed, and I'm a really light sleeper. I know SIDS is a silent killer but I could hear that he was sleeping/moving around and check on him easily. There was also just some waiting involved for his muscles to learn how to pass gas and to get through all those early growth spurts.

He also was a late sleep guy. He still goes to sleep later than his brother who is 2 years older. But if your kid is going to sleep at 8:45 and waking at 10 that sounds like he thinks it's a cat nap and not bedtime.

UPDATE: He hates the crib. He's up at 830, 12, then went go back down from 230-530. I am at my wit's end. I thought by 11 weeks sleep would improve but it's getting worse.

@pachamama: haha yes, I bring her into my bed every morning after her waking up at 5-5:30 and we cuddle and watch tv together until I decide I should get up and be productive for the day. Still on maternity leave for another 4 weeks so not very productive ha!

@LabradorLover: my husband was nervous too ("he's too young!") but it was a great decision. Some babies are social sleepers and some are independent. I prefer the independent ha! but in the morning I bring him into bed sometimes (I;m awake) and get snuggles. My 1st never did this.
FWIW, my pediatrician was like, Good lord, Put him in a crib out of your room IT'S FINEEEEEEE

@pachamama: glad you have had success!! I currently have an 8 week old baby who has been in her crib since 4 weeks old (not my choice at first!) she slept amazingly the first night and ever since and secretly so did mommy (but don’t tell my husband he was right)

I hope it continues for you like it had for us! She literally slept 8pm to 3am last night and usually sleeps 4-6 hours before waking up to breastfeed at night. Hope you get the same results!

@pachamama: I read this before but wasn't sure what advice to give so I'm glad to read you've had some success with moving him to his own room. Both my babies needed to be in their own space starting around 6 weeks - we were just waking each other up so much! We do similar to you with a dark room, white noise and swaddle.

I found that my LO still has about a 2-2.5 hour max awake time no matter how long she's slept prior. So we often have a long AM and mid-day naps, with a shorter nap in the late afternoon/early evening. We never let her sleep past 6pm to have a bedtime around 8pm. Not sure if yours has a predictable amount of time between sleeping but that helps us know how long and when to have the last nap of the day for a successful bedtime.

UPDATE: We moved him to a crib 2 nights ago and it went better than expected- no fussing and only woke twice. He's EBF so that's just fine 😁 . I think he, like my other son, likes to sleep independently. let's hope this wonderful little trend continues.

I think it’s likely a wait and see. Sleep behaviors change constantly in the first year, and your son is inching closer to the 3-4 month regression (more cognitive abilities making it tougher to fall back to sleep after sleep cycles end, and babies have a shorter sleep cycle). I wouldn’t add formula to the mix unless you think he’s hungry although you could try doing a dream feed before you go to bed to see if that helps him skip one of his later feedings. I usually put baby down by 7:30 and then dreamfeed (I would nurse her while she was still half asleep) between 9:30-10 before I went to bed.

I also moved my youngest to her own room by 4 months or so. She needed total quiet and dark to sleep. Once I moved her, she slept much better (although she still woke up once a night for another few months).

Good luck!

My 10 week old is sleeping like the week he got home from the hospital. Up every 1-4 hours and sometimes fussing (never hysterical, just needy) and won't go back to bed for an hour sometimes. Other times he falls back asleep quick.
... Here's the situation--
Healthy weight, EBF, no reflux, very content baby. Not really gassy.
Sleeps in a bassinet next to us in a Halo sleep swaddle. (Should we move him out?)
Will not take a paci
Dark, white noise, bedtime routine
can actually put himself back to sleep half the time
Naps VERY well in his crib but we put him on his stomach (I check on him every 15 minutes). Very good neck control, sleeps awesome on his tummy (bad I know)
he takes a very long nap in the morning and mid-afternoon, then a cat nap around 5pm I sometimes wake him up from these because I feel like his days and nights are reversed but I'm not sure that's even possible at this point?
He will not go "to sleep" before 8:45 pm. (I guess this is normal for his age?)
I "tank him up" as much as possible starting at 5pm
Wakes at 10pm (this kills me), 2/3, 4/5am.
(My husband takes a bottle shift so I'm surviving but I need to break this pattern especially the 10 p.m. waking.)

Is this just a wait-and-see? Should we move him out of our room into a crib? Do formula at 8/9pm? Can I put him on his stomach? I think he hates the bassinet.

Thank you if you actually read all these details...
