My DD's class did it last year (ages 3-5). The kids had to bring in something that represented 100. We strung a 100 beads on a piece of yarn and made a necklace. Some kids brought a jar of 100 pennies or a paper with a hundred stickers on it. It was a great lesson on counting to 100.

Kids like it. In Kindergarten, counting each day of the school year is a good way to learn numbers. They're doing it in first grade, too. It's a numbers thing. It's a good way to celebrate math. Plus, just something fun to do.

We celebrate it in elementary school. It is the 100th day of the school year. For primary kids there is a build up to 100 day with a focus on math concepts. They usually collect an object a day until they have 100 or collect 10 sets of 10 objects to make 100. Not my favorite to be honest, but the kids like it. No need to dress up.

We just got our January newsletter email. It said that Jan 3rd they will celebrate the 100th day of school. I know elementary schools celebrate this too. I don't get why it is a big deal.

Does your day care celebrate it? Am I supposed to dress R in anything??
