OK LO finally developed symptoms... some runny nose and super cranky toward the afternoon. 101 before medicine at bedtime :( I am really hoping it is not ear infection because his tubes could have fallen off, and we had such a rough history with ear infections I am really hoping we are over it by now.

We had the same type thing last week. She had a clear runny nose but that was something she was dealing with for a week or so. We kept her home for 2 days to be safe and she's bounced back fine!

I had a thread almost exactly like this a few months ago. Ours turned out to be an ear infection that was symptomless minus the fever.

Yeah - it has happened a bunch. sometimes, it's just a little virus but we've also come to find it was the start of an ear infection but her symptoms didn't start for days after the fever.

I am counting on it resolving by today.... Fingers crossed!!! I mean he's been a good boy so far (and I am able to work 85% of the time) but I bet he'd go crazy if we have to continue to stay home and I have to work .... :(

@irene: Twice now my daughter has had a medium - medium/high fever for three days with no other symptoms. Our doctor wants to see her after three days to check for infections. So we go in. And on the 4th day she gets cold symptoms.

Yes we've had a couple. They usually pass after 2-3 days at most. Often it was due to growing or cutting teeth...

LO (2.5 years old) has been having a 99-101 fever since yesterday, so we are staying home today from daycare. I gave him some motrin and he's just all cool with no symptoms or fussiness, no runny nose no crying, just playing as usual in the greatest mood (thankfully). Does that ever happen to you?

My mom has said sometimes kids have fevers because they are growing. I wonder if that's that, but my mom is also not very scientific. I wonder if it is a weird infection that I should take him to the doctor or if it is normal.
