My boy weaned around that time because he was too busy to nurse. I just switched him to cows milk at meals. He was happy with that!

That sounds totally normal for my kids. My doctor just said to TRY for 16oz a day at this age, but that my kids just seemed to be early weaners. By the time they turned 1, my doctor said 8-12oz of milk./formula a day plus water was plenty for hydration purposes. Just replace a snack with yogurt and that should make up the difference.

Oh, and we always did the first morning bottle before any food, and then a bedtime bottle. So if by chance those aren't happening then maybe that could help at least get you to the minimum.

My LOs were very distracted at that age too. I think you're ok to just try to stick with 16oz for now if she is pooping and peeing ok.

Does she seem to be distracted? I know around that age my son was too busy being a busy body and I would often have to take him to our quiet bedroom to get him to drink his bottle.

@nugget16: I know Health Canada recommends transitioning to wcm between 9-12 months. I know most US organizations recommend 12 months but if the formula isn't working, it might be time to try different things. Maybe start out with 3/4 parts formula and 1/4 wcm and gradually increase the milk and decrease the formula?

@Coral: is that ok?? I thought they recommend waiting until they are 1 year? We did think she might have some dairy intolerance because she was a happy spitter for the first 9 months of life but I'm not convinced so I've been giving yogurt and cheese occasionally and she has seemed ok. She tends to over eat and will occasionally still spit up but it's very infrequently and nothing like what it was.

A few weeks ago, I wrote a post that my then 9.5 mo old wasn't gaining weight. Well, in less than 1 month she has gained 2 lbs. BUT now she has reduced her formula in take to 12-14 oz a day. She eats 3 good meals a day and I always incorporate a protein, fruit and veggie at the minimum. I've tried giving her the bottle before meals but after 2-3 oz she refuses drinking any more. I do offer formula in a sippy cup at each meal. No sleep or behavioral issues and she could be teething (top teeth) but this has been slowly happening in last 2 weeks. Should I take her in to see doctor? Keep offering her the minimum 16 oz recommended and maybe it's just a phase? Any input would be greatly appreciated!!!
