My LO started doing that around that age, too! What really helped stop the shirt-pulling was teaching her the sign for "milk" because then she would just sign milk instead. She's 15 months now and if it's close to naptime she will sign and then dive towards me and shove her hands down my short sometimes lol but giving her more ways to communicate helped for sure

My son used to do this. The first few times he did it, I explained he needed to ask and I would make him sign "please" before I'd let him nurse. After a couple times of telling him that, I would refuse to let him nurse at all if he pulled my shirt even if he did ask please after the fact. I would say "You are supposed to ask Momma 'please'. I do not like when you pull my shirt. You may not have milk right now." He stopped pulling on my shirt pretty quickly.

My lo started this a few weeks ago...it makes me feel like a piece of meat! No advice but I totally want to start teaching her to sign now!

My LO did this and now I make him sign more (I tried milk but he didn't grasp it well, he got it confused with waving bye bye and would get really mad!)

Ugh, E did this for a bit and it made me all sorts of crazy. I called it "drive-by nursing". He didn't respond to anything I tried to do to curb it, and got angry at me when I tried. It was just a phase for him, though...couple weeks, I think?

@Arden: K signs please, too. She still yanks at my shirt, but when I tell her no, she signs please and says milk. Well...if you're going to use your manners...

@Arden: ah ha! I need to do that!

I was coming here to say we totally struggle with this too. My 15 month old will completely pull my shirt and bra down. In public.

When she started pulling my shirt I started telling her to sign "please". I didn't want her just pulling. A lot of times when I would say "No, you need to say please," she would just be like "Forget it". Unless she really needed to nurse.

Now that she's older, she signs and says "Mama ny-ny please".

I would let her do it once (to see if she's really hungry), but if she does it for a sec and scoots away to come back for more, I would tell her "no" and hold up your shirt. Then a simple sentence about how it's for eating only, no playing, etc.

BTW, I love your avatar and username. It's a big hat. It's funny.

So just in the last couple of days, LO will crawl over, and start yanking at my shirt trying to get boob. If I'm sitting on the floor, on the couch, holding her... The first couple of times I thought she was hungry, but she just sips for a quick second, and is off again...until she crawls back and does it all over again...

Any ideas of how to curb this?!
