@babybean404: I did it slowly, just going off his cues. I think I cut the morning nursing session first by just playing/distracting him so that he worked up his appetite for food/milk for breakfast. He was pretty used to nursing to sleep so if it seemed like he really need to nurse to settle down, I did it. But, he was closer to 14 months so by then was okay with regular milk, as well. Plus, I have an older one so he liked to eat/do what she did.

In your case, I might first cut out the nursing session where she doesn't seem to need it as much (after lunch, before dinner), and go from there! :)

@mauxie: She hasn't been introduced to cow's milk yet, and I think I do want to wait til she's a year old. Did you choose one feeding to replace or just try to do it all at once?

Are you waiting until 1 year for cow's milk, or has she been introduced?

With my son, I was able to wean by offering pouches or cups of milk (skipped sippy cups). He loved to nurse but he realllly loved food so it was easy to replace. For night nursing, I had to just send in my husband and be out of sight/out of mind completely for a few nights for him to get the point.

Hi all,

I have an 11 month old daughter and I feel like I need some sort of plan for weaning. I'm a teacher so I'm off until mid-August, but I don't want to pump at work during the upcoming school year.

Advice on what to do now? Currently I feel like our schedule is a little crazy and she's nursing/eating all the time:

6/6:30am-up
6:30-nurse
7-snacks in high chair while we make and eat our breakfasts, she's not hungry though
8:30-breakfast/brunch (she is hungry at this point)
9-nap
10:30/11-up
between 11 and 1: usually 1 nursing session and lunch
the middle of the day is really loose. I'm not sure if I should be trying to get her to be hungry at lunch so she can drop that nursing session, or if I should feed her after she eats lunch, or what!
1:30-nap
3-up
this part of the day is loose too. sometimes she wants to nurse, sometimes not.
5/5:30-dinner
6:45: nurse
7: bed
2am: nurse (I'd like to cut this feeding out but we have 2 upcoming trips this month--planning on trying to night wean after we're home)

Help!
