she's such a stubborn girl, she decided not to drink water or milk the whole day. we gave her a bottle of milk this morning and she finished it all. i guess she's not ready to give up the bottle yet.

@twogirls: does she like water from her sippy? My LO doesn't care much for whole milk so we dilute hers with water and are slowly adding more milk each week with the hope she will eventually get to whole milk. She's 13 months too. My friend did this with her LO and at 14 months her daughter is drinking whole milk.

When we transitioned to straw cup his milk intake dwindled to almost nothing, but the pedi said it was fine because he was eating yogurt every morning and cheese at every meal!

ETA: he now goes through a gallon of whole milk a week all by himself! And he doesn't even drink milk during the weekdays during the day when he's at daycare.

I hated cows milk as child and cheese too, so my parents had to just give other foods to make up for it

My DS will not drink whole milk in a sippy, only water. We let him have it in the bottle since he's tiny and we want him to get as much fat as possible. He's 15 mo but I'm working on weaning him from the bottle soon.

I wouldn't worry about it too much and like @banana: said to push other foods with calcium. If you really worry, offer whole milk in a bottle.

I had a friend whose son HATED milk (cow, goat, soy, etc). She tried all kinds of milk and he hated them all. So she just fed him alot of yogurt and cheese, which is just fine!

Personally I wouldn't stress to much about it. If she is getting proper nutrition from her whole diet, (calcium, fat, fibre, etc) milk isn't 'necessary'. We are the only mammal that consumes milk after weaning. Make sure she is getting lots of good fats from food (avocado, yogurt, cheese) and don't stress about her consuming milk specifically.

At 12 months we started transitioning our LO from bottle to sippy cup and breastmilk to whole milk at the same time. She was doing fine with bm/whole milk mix. Now that my stash is gone, we started giving her whole milk and she is refusing it. She does drinks water from sippy but just not milk. I don't know if she's getting enough nutrition if she doesn't drink any. It's like a constant battle to get her to drink just one ounce. Should I try other types of milk?
