My LO dropped her morning nap at 13 mos. She had been fighting it for awhile so we transitioned her. It seemed early but was great for her. We just pushed her a little bit later each day and within about a week she was on a good schedule. She (19 mos now) naps 1.5-2 hours in the afternoon and 12 hrs at night. She also started sleeping later in the morning when we transitioned her (like 7:30am) which has been amazing.

One of my kids dropped her morning nap at 10months!! The other kept it until 20months. We started doing lunch at 10 and nap from 11 to 1ish and slowly pushed that back to lunch at 11 and nap right after. We also had to be up early for afternoon stuff so it worked well

@bhbee: As a working mom the lower night sleep needs are not such a bad thing, as it gives me more time with DS, maybe not so great for getting chores done but oh well 😂 Hope either the morning nap returns or you can get a nice solid midday nap in its place!

@crazydoglady: yeah this baby likes her nighttime sleep pretty well now and I have to enjoy that. I’d kind of forgotten but my son was like this too - liked early bedtime and less daytime sleep. Every kid is different that’s for sure!

@Mrs. Champagne: did you have any trouble with the transition in terms of being overtired? It seems like she’s fussy by 10 now but maybe it won’t last long once she gets the new rhythm. Or I just need to provide more snacks :silly:

@periwinklebee: I hope baby girl is your magical unicorn sleeper after all you’ve been through so far!!

@bhbee: My 12 month old doesn't nap either, but she sleeps nearly 12 hours at night, and the ped thinks it's fine. Shoot...my son napped until 4!

It seems pretty common for kids in my son's daycare class to drop the second nap around that point. DS was a bit later (but made up for it by the naps being a bit of a crapshoot in length and never sleeping more than 9, max 10 hours at night :silly: ) There was also a period when it was a bit variable, sometimes he'd do two, sometimes one, and we just tried to play it by ear...

We were in two 1ish hour naps but he started daycare 1.5 weeks ago and that is gone. He has one super cat nap there of about 15 min in the morning and then the last few days roughly 2 hours after lunch. They have early lunch and nap by 12. Since he’s usually up at 5:30 he is still going to bed about 6, which is making the early evening hectic.

I’d try and see if you can get her on one good nap.

@cake2017: no on the stroller naps! It’s still too hot here for me to really want to do it but she fights it hard.

@LadyDi: I think we may be going that way - she slept 11-1 or maybe 1:30 today.

@muffinsmuffins: I think you’re right on - I wake her at 6:30 on weekdays but I may try to let her sleep a bit if we’re only trying one nap, just makes mornings crazier. Her naps have to be done by 2:30 due to school pickups so 2 just may not fit anymore. But 6pm bedtime is my friend at least!

DS1 dropped his morning nap around 13-14 months and DS2 dropped his morning naps at 11 months. Not by my choice, he just flat out refused to nap in the morning despite me trying and despite the fact that he was obviously tired so after a week or two I gave up trying. He adjusted to one nap pretty quickly and takes long afternoon naps now (usually 2-3 hours).

My little guy was on two naps at that age. He was home so they were in his crib. The first one was always longer and the second was at least an hour. weekends I made sure his first was at home but didn’t mind the second being on the road. Does she nap in a stroller like for a walk or running errands? not quite sure if i’m answering your question tho

My younger just turned one but we are definitely in this weird in between phase. We were at a cottage in August and if he had a morning nap he wouldn’t sleep in the aft which was a disaster obviously. We did a couple days of afternoon only which was ok but if he woke early, he would be a mess so the nap would be at like 11/1130.

He started at a home daycare a couple weeks ago and she has been having him do a morning cat nap of 30 mins around 830/9 and then afternoon nap at like 1/130. We’ve done the same at home and it’s been fine. He also won’t nap on the go at all because he’s super alert.

What time does your LO usually wake up in the morning? When is their afternoon nap? Ours is usually awake at 5 am (ughhhh) and goes easily for the 8:30/9. If you want to do one nap and your kid wakes at like 6/7 I would try it at 11 and then gradually push it each week to let them adapt. I’m actually excited to get to one nap but not quite there yet!

Both my kids were in daycare at that age, so they always did a morning nap, and then afternoon nap at home. On weekends with my 2nd, I def wore her to nap a lot if we're out. Both kids switched 1 nap around 15 months.

What was it like for you at that age? Anyone try to do one nap?

My 13mo has been refusing naps. She has figured out a ton of physical milestones lately and I’m hoping that’s the issue and it’s temporary because she’s clearly tired during the day. It’s tricky because with the other two kids’ schedules I can’t do an ideal nap schedule anyway, and she’ll only sleep in the car if she’s super exhausted and it’s a super smooth ride (so not very often). I can put her to bed early usually (and I prefer it since I often do all 3 kid bedtimes solo) so that helps.

Any tips for getting even a short morning nap appreciated
