@grizz: I thought we'd avoided it too! He's been standing for months so I don't know why he's suddenly doing it in his crib. I think it's a tactic to stay awake. I've been giving in and letting him sleep with us but I need to start being strong.

An older nurse I work with who has raised 4 kids told me yesterday to go in every 10 minutes and lay him back down. I hate letting him cry though :crying:

My 14 month old is doing this too :( I thought we were going to skip this phase since he didn't do it when he first learned to stand! I've been rocking him til he's almost out, then transferring to the crib, but even that is only 50/50.

No insight from me, but my 13mo does this. I can't put her down in her crib unless she's 99.9% asleep. Any more awake than that and she immediately stands and screams/cries. Sucks.

@hilsy85: he is getting close to walking. Honestly I think he just wants to be with me. He was sick a few weeks ago and I held him a lot, so I think he wants to sleep on me! The second I put him down he stands up and tries to cling onto me. It's heartbreaking  but at the same time I need a bit of time to myself!

Teething? Learning a new skill? Does he have a lovey he takes to bed? What if you put a book in there with him?

My son has always been an OK sleeper but never great. CIO isn't for me, so I was waiting it out and just before a year he started sleeping through the night. He's 14 months now and now I put him down awake (he used to go down fine awake) and he immediately stands up and SCREAMS! I've left him for up to 20ish minutes but he doesn't stop or even slow down  I find it really stressful with our evenings/bedtime being soo unpredictable and I never get any time on my own. I've resorted to bringing him into our bed since I'm exhausted!

Any suggestions? It's been almost 3 weeks. He can get up and down without a problem, so I know he's not "stuck". HELP!

Will I have no choice but to CIO? :crying:
