We got this. If you scroll down, there are models with child heights. We are still on the 16 inch and the seats are super easy to adjust with the flick of a lever. I expect it to be in use for 2 years and then time to Craigslist it.

I've seen 18" bikes too. Like Looch, I get them used, usually from facebook marketplace.

I just look for used bikes, at this age and stage of life, there is no reason to buy new bikes for kids. The Goodwill near my home has bikes for $10 and to be honest, what I like to do is have at least 2, even though I only have one kid, as inevitably someone comes over for a play date and it would be great to have a second one (with a spare helmet too).

@mediagirl: Check out the blog post on the Woom bike! It sounds pretty cool. Wish I had known...we’ve been getting new bikes every few yrs, but at least DD2 has gotten use out of them, too.

I think 20" comes next. I don't think there's any way to avoid having to get a new bike every few years. It's basically impossible to ride a bike that's way too big, and sadly there's no way to stop them from growing!

My 5 year old is outgrowing her 14" bike, and I'm trying to decide if we can go straight to a 20" for a Christmas or birthday gift. She outgrew the 14" so quickly - from not feeling comfortable on the lowest seat setting to really being too big for the highest setting in only a little over a year.

Our daughter has outgrown her 16" bike. What size do you go to next that she hopefully won't outgrow in 2 years?
