@winniebee: thanks! I think we are in a lull after a really rough patch that ended a few weeks ago, so fingers crossed it stays tolerable while i try to find time to watch these webinars and figure out a game plan...the 5 minute pause before going in has been great for middle of the night fussing, and I haven't had to go help her get back to sleep in a while. Hope yours makes a turn for the better soon too!

@Bluebonnet: hm I don't think he's sick but I do think that stupid molar is bothering him. He doesn't wake up in the middle of the night and has never had an ear infection! He is super glued to his lovey lately though!!

@MamaCate: ugh I'm sorry this is happening for you too! I let him be in the morning until he gets really bitchy. The day he woke at 5:18 he woke happy and was playing with his stuffies until 6! Today he woke at 6:10 which is certainly better!

Could something more be going on that impacts sleep? Maybe ear issues? Have your pedi check at your 18 month well child visit.

We went through a rough sleep patch around 17 months, and reintroduced a lovey and started using a brighter nightlight. No idea why, but that completely turned things around.

Ugh, isn't it awful? I thought sleep would get better in toddlerhood but not so much on our end either. I have found some of the Isis parenting webinars helpful. I haven't actually used anything yet but it seemed like a good foundation.? Maybe worth a try? Otherwise maybe try to ride it out?

Do you go in right away in the morning? My LO will occasionally go back to sleep if she wakes herself up before 6 and the house is still quiet.

Hugs and sympathy in the meantime!

T is a great night sleeper. Solid 11 hours at night without waking Nap is more difficult, usually only 1.5 hours (sometimes 2). Schedule used to be bed from 7:30 or 8-6:30 or7, nap at 12:30 or 1.

Since daylight savings....gets up at 6 or earlier. Naps are horrible (last week 45 minutes A DAY). This week has cut night sleep to less than 10 hours. I've tried putting him down earlier. Leads to earlier waking. Today was up at 5:18 (bed at 7:25 last night). Nap from 12-1:45. Not. enough. sleep. Cranky, needy, toddler who wakes up hysterical from every nap. I considered 2 naps today but he is the type of kid who if he sleeps for 10 minutes in the car in the morning, won't take a nap at all.

Is this the 18 month regression? He'll be 18 months in a few days. Also his 4th molar is partway through. He's learning new words every day. Is it a mental leap? Does it even matter?

I don't know what to do. I feel like a failure.
