@aegie: My husband refused to sleep in her room or let me sleep in there because we have a stubborn girl too. Once or twice he did sleep in the chair in her room because he passed out waiting for her to fall back asleep. But every night we usually just sat by the door, then sat in the doorway, then sat outside the slightly open door (watching her on the video monitor and talking to her if we saw her get up to check if we were there). Then eventually we were able to close the door because she stopped checking. Ughhhh. But we're reaping the rewards now... she goes down great and sleeps all night.

@mrs. wagon: I had to resort to sleeping in the room with her for a good 3 weeks? After that, I started to sleep in the room with her until she fell asleep then I left. If she got up in the middle of the night, I'd go back in and sleep there. But keep leaving so she got used to the idea that I'm there for her but I sleep in mommy's room. She's a stubborn booger so it took a long time to break her out of the habit of me sleeping in there all night long ... but 3 weeks of going back and forth is so much better than sleeping in there permanently or dealing with crying hysterics in the middle of the night.

@Mrs. Blue: oh sweetie I am so sorry... worst ever, and I can't even begin to imagine double the trouble. I think this regression lasted about 3 weeks but we just finished another that lasted almost 9. That one morphed from the night wakings to the super early mornings. Not going down on her own lasted thru the whole thing. The only advice I have (which is why I haven't blogged about it!) Is to just ride out the phase... After trying EVERYTHING I just dug in my heels and she went totally back to normal, kind of just flipped the switch, a few weeks ago. The one and only upside is that it feels so good. NOW. :( hang in there!!! I know that's a crazy understatement that's easier said than done...

@Mrs. Blue: It took us a couple of months. He still is kind of hit or miss. Most nights he sleeps through but a few times a week he wakes once.

Following! The last couple days one of my 19 month old twins is waking up at around 4 and doesn't want to go back to bed. Yesterday I was up with him for a couple hours before he went back to sleep. He was up again this morning early and I didn't want him to wake his brother up so I went and got him after 10 mins and slept in our guest bed. He slept on & off for an hour and then was up! He's still up and full of beans.

Oh so following! I don't know if this is a sleep regression or power trip because we HAD to transition after L demonstrated climbing IN and then out of his crib but bedtime sucks!! He now fights it like crazy, sometimes crying for an hour even if I'm in there laying down with him. And some nights waking crying 3-6 times. Or tonight: poor naps today, fell asleep on the couch early so I put him to bed. He was asleep for maybe 30 min and then woke up and threw the BIGGEST tantrum. He's not the tantrummy sort (yet) and this was epic for him. 10 straight minutes of flopping around sobbing. He is just getting over a cold so I was going to give him Tylenol when he said he didn't want any and stopped fussing! No idea.

I could have written this post right now...except I'm too busy figuring out WTH to do with DD. She woke at 4:45am crying, and we got her up at 5:20. She napped 8-11am (totally should have cut that short, but she goes NUTS when I wake her and I was chicken). Then she napped AGAIN from 3-4pm. Yeah, I messed it up. Now she has been crying for almost 70 minutes at bedtime. THIS SUCKS!

LO's 18 month sleep regression started at around 17 months. Her night sleep was wonky for about 2 weeks, but her NAPS were non-existent for 3 months! She went on a crazy nap strike that almost ended my sanity. We just stuck to our routine, and luckily her night sleep went back on track but she fought her naps, crying out the entire hour for 3 months! Then one day, 2 days before Christmas, she laid down and went to sleep. All sleep was restored until a week ago, and she's fighting naps again. Is there another sleep regression at 23 months?!?!

Good luck to you! It sounds it might be her runny nose that is keeping her up and not a regression? Not sure which one is worse at this point. Hope everything goes back to normal soon!

@looch: @char54: thanks for the well wishes!!

@Worrywart: let's get through this together!!! ahhhh!!!

@NovBaby1112: we have been monitoring her temp like CRAZY to rule out ear infection, and she has never spiked a fever. But two days ago her nose started running and that's when she regressed right back, so I think she is just not feeling well in general. I am TERRIFIED of her being in a toddler bed... but it just may be time... not really sure at all!! We didn't transition my son until he was over 3 years old!!

ughhh that sounds miserable! hmmmm...we haven't hit the 18 month regression yet, but I've been following your sleep woes with LMW. poor thing and poor parents!!!

have you ruled out ear infection/any sicknesses? do you think she is maybe ready to transition out of her crib into a toddler bed or twin bed?

Following! We are going through something similar with our 19 month old. Up 2-3 times during the night, standing up, throwing everything out of the crib and yelling "Mama Dada!"

Hellllppppp...

What did you do for a sleep regression around 18-20 months?

How long did it last before your LO was back to sleeping through the night? Days? Weeks? Months?

It's been two weeks now since we got back from a 2 night trip away... after a week she slept through the night twice (yay!) but now we are back to square one, or even worse. We were up every 1-2 hours last night with LMW. Once around midnight we even got her out of the crib, changed her crib sheets (they were soaked with her tears and snot, she's got a runny nose, and she's coughing up a lot of thin mucus as she cries), changed her diaper, took her temp (99.5, probably a touch high because she had just been crying), changed her into a cotton sleep sack (she had been in a fleece one) and put her back down... and STILL every 1-2 hours she was waking screaming. Ugh. And we have to get her immediately or she vomits all over the crib.

Help. help. help.
