If it's his bowl or cup, I will take it away at the table and tell him no throwing. I wait for him to sign 'more' or tell us he wants it back and then I will say 'ok but no throwing'. If it happens more than twice, away it goes. For spoons or forks he doesn't get them back as he thinks is the most hilarious thing to throw them to the dog and watch him lick them.

Probably not a popular answer, but when he throws anything (food, toys, etc) we calmly respond, "Oh! It looks like you are done with this, great, I'll put it away!" and then we put the item up. He caught on pretty fast that if he throws his spoon that it will disappear and he's SOL. If he whines for it we explain that he threw it, so we took it away.

Ain't nobody got time to repeatedly pick-up a cup.

HELP! My DD is 19 months and has been throwing food and her water cup since she was probably about 9 or 10 months. How do we stop this behavior? I want her to have the freedom to feed herself and hold her own cup, but repeatedly having to pick up after her is so frustrating. She also almost hits the dog sometimes with her heavy water cup. Any ideas?
