We set out coloring books and crayons from the dollar store. Also sidewalk chalk. And a friend brought some soccer balls and nets over that her boys play with. It was plenty!

something like this, right?

i think coloring, stickers, table is good, but at my party, it was mostly the girls that enjoyed the crafts. maybe beading pasta (uncooked) or fruit loop necklaces.... or get some plain cupcakes or something and let them decorate them?

I think those ages are fine for face painting.

I was thinking maybe an art table, like with crayons, stickers, etc. And that paper you use for a tablecloth that kids can draw on. Obviously I don't do this very often since I don't even know what that paper is called. Ha!

Thoughts on an art table/coloring book area?

I know many boys who like face painting. Like above, super heroes and other characters and animals. I think lots of artists do both, face painting and balloons.

We had a crafts table, but I think mostly girls enjoyed that. We had a balloon artist and all the boys wanted swords. Got kinda rowdy but they were totally loving it.

What about hiring someone? To sing and entertain, like a clown or magician?

My son's first birthday party is coming up, and I need some way to entertain the older kids at the party. There will be four three-year-olds, a six-year-old, and maybe a couple of 8-year-olds. Ideas? I thought maybe face-painting, but the 8-year-olds are boys, so they probably won't be into that. And the younger kids might be nervous. I know my almost three-year-old probably wouldn't sit still and let someone paint her face. But they also do balloon animals. She might like that.

Also, the forecast is for rain the day of the party, so a bounce castle or whatever probably won't work.

Any ideas?
