Hm thanks! I guess I should call soon and ask. Now I'm curious if other parents have brought stuff in and what the teachers did. I def do not want m to be given sweets.

Ask the daycare what they recommend. I was going to bring in cupcake's for DD's 2nd birthday but the teachers requested something other than cupcakes (too messy) so I took rice crispy treats. They posted a note on the door a couple days beforehand letting parents know about the treat and allowing them to opt their child out if they wanted.

The gift baggies and the treats didn't start until the kids hit their second birthday. I think its just too hard at a year because there is a big difference in what to give a ten month old versus a 14 month old.

@regberadaisy: Ours has 2 infant rooms (one for young infants and one for older infants). Then a young toddler room (16 months ish to 2 years) and then a toddler room of 2-3 year olds.

All the parents at my daycare seem to bring in cupcakes (either homemade or store bought). I'm the mean mommy who has a sign on her kid's cubby that says "no sweets." :)

That being said......I was planning on taking cupcakes in to daycare for her first birthday for the teachers and kids who could enjoy them. Ha ha ha.

I'm not sure if we are allowed to bring food for the kids, but I'll probably bring in cupcakes for the teachers. I like the gift bag idea, then the parents can decide to give it to their LO or not.

I think I'm going to do something like bubbles or colors instead of treats for my LO's first birthday! And attach a cute little note with a saying about it being her first birthday!

@mrs. wagon: yes on the baggie! I will already have a ton of small baggies for party favors! :)

@regberadaisy: T will be in the older infant room by then (most babies 10-16 months) so I'm going to bring in some kind of treat - muffins or poundcake or maybe something slightly healthier. It's in the policies and procuedres that you can bring treats for bday at our daycare. I just plan to ask the director what people typically bring.

@regberadaisy: I would probably do little packages for each kid, maybe yogurt melts since that was such a favorite of Wagon Jr.'s when he was that age. Or puffs. And I would probably do cupcakes for the teachers!

@regberadaisy: haha. it's so early, I haven't had my coffee yet, I should have REALLY pointed out that this was this year for his THIRD birthday and all of his 3 year old friends. LOL.

I actually didn't send in anything for his second birthday! And his first birthday he wasn't in daycare yet. So yeah, cupcakes would probably not be the best for a first birthday.

@mrs. wagon: haha - I so want to do fun cupcakes! But I don't even want M to have cupcakes so I wouldn't subject other parent's younger kids to have them. I thought about doing Mrs Pen's bean cupcakes though...

How did your daycare handle giving sweets out to the babies though? Was this for when he was older than 1?

I went against what was recommended (healthy snacks like jell-o or mini muffins) and just made a batch of funfetti cupcakes. Bad mommy. The kids and teachers loved them.

I kinda want to bring something into daycare for M's birthday.

I was thinking maybe "fancier" snacks for the kids who are old enough to eat them. I'm thinking like yogurt melts, etc. And just puffs for the really young ones?

And I will def ask the teachers to OK with all the parents beforehand.

What about teachers? Cupcakes for them?

Did you bring anything into daycare for LO's first birthday? What did you bring?
